200x rings/valves --- 2 stroke 200x

does anyone know how to change rings and valve seals without pulling the engine out of an 83 200x? mine is smoking like crazy even when there is only a little bit of oil. i am replacing the rings and seals and maybe valves, ill see when i get inside, but some bolts are frozen so i cant take the engine completely off. o and as far as my other thread-- 200x seied up -- the rod bearing is fine, the play in the flywheel was because the idiot who owned it before me forgot to put the washer on the flywheel to hold it on i got a new on and no more play! but since it seized it might have broken a ring or something ill find out i guess


and does anyone know of a reletively easy to find 2 stroke engine that will fit in a 200x? if i can find one i might do a 200x - 2 stroke project im sick of the 200x engine

Well thats good news if it fixed you problem with the slack in you connecting rod you was having. I wouldnt give up on your 200x motor. If all it needs is a top end that would be easier to fix than to swap a motor. There was a guy i think on this site that swapped a elsinore motor onto his 200x but its way more work than a top end is .

yeah, i know a top end is easy, but i have the 350 to ride, and it would be cool to have a 2 stroke 200x. and the hardness factor of a 2 stroke is no prob. my dad is a machinest, and i want it to be a project. its not something im expecting to happen in the near future, and even neccisarily with my 200x, i would buy a roller, and put something in it. maybe even a 350 roller, there are 2 near where i live.but right now, i really need to know how to replacce the topend with out takin the engine out. the 2 stroke just kind of popped into my head a minute ago... thanks

Which Bolts are giving you problems? I've been lucky enough to get my motors out fairly easy. Hopefully someome will chime in to help ya about leaving the motor in the frame for a rebuild . I just looked at mine looks pretty tight around the motor if you could cut the bolts off and get it out of the frame it would save you a headache or 2.

How about an air cooled RD350 or RD400 motor? Its a twin, so dual pipes would be required unfortunately. There should be lots of those good old motor around.

You talked about a 350X roller, I'd bet a 2 stroke from?? would have some room to play with and it wouldn't have too bad suspension being a 2mm larger front fork and larger rear......

I guess it's all in what you find but I hate seeing huge motors STUFFED into 83-85 200X chassis - thats just me...........

How many cheap Yamaha Blaster 200 motors are out there?? ALLOT!! and pretty dam reliable too..............

well i just sold the 200x today for the same price i bot it for! a guy called, said he was comin to look at it, i said it just seized, i got it unstuck and it smokes ALOT and has some engine probs now. he came, looked at and said would you take 700 ide been askin 750. handed over the cash and it was gone. now im lookin for somethin else. anyone that has a 3/4wheeler in the north east for sale around the 1000 dollar range, shoot me an email or a pm
