    the noobs 87 200x

picked my first trike up on the 22nd of july, and snagged this diamond in the rough for $250 lol
    what was going through my head;
    when i first saw it
    now

this thing had been ridden alot and frequently it seems. still has the ignition switch and key but its not hooked up and its pretty ragged. like the rest of the bike. bent forks, dry rubber, no brakes and it smokes like a chimney.
along with an assortment of poor/lack of maintenance. all bearings were siezed and seals just chewed apart. again.... what was i thinking.

rode the hell out of it for a week or so and ran like hell with no compression, cant wait to get some rings in it.

want to first give thanks to the member 200x350xtriz250 for supplying me with some tank things and new fenders. really helped the looks and motivation. big thanks!

within no time it looked like this

couldnt get the rear axle out of the swingarm, tried it all. ended up taking the rear axle to a shop press to get the hub off the right side. no dice. ended up having to cut the off. purists, no fear, the axle was junk anyways.

a 1985 200x rear axle was the solution, that will be here the 19th. more info on that when it gets here and in.

    that next night:

sweet new brake parts that arent even close.
this caliper, doesnt fit. modified the caliper bracket with the grinder, and drill.

it fits now that theres no rotor in, but well see.

i like sittin in the garage and lookin at it

ill have updates soon, still need a few more parts. and im really gonna need help with this motor.
still need a rear master cylinder resivoir. exhaust setup, quiet. and some other crap i cant remember right now. small stuff.

if yall got any sweet 200x mods to make it mo badass let me know. id love to go over budget!! im pretty sure im hooked.

thanks man, the swinger was red factory. ive just got a thing for white.
and funds? lol i have tried to rehabilitate everything and rebuild. and the seat actually came with the trike when i bought it! i dont believe in new parts when i dont have to. little elbow grease, paint, and polish will go a little ways. i did buy the good paint though haha!

Looking great! I love white swingers too.........

The 86/87 trike are very well built, they handle well, look great but have less aftermarket products out there. In time, there may be more.

Be careful of 3rg gear, the 87 had a thing for breakage of them because the ratio change made parts thinner. The 86 didn't seem to have a gear shifting problem in that area so I'm unsure why they changed it.........

    I've got 2 87 motors with broken 3rd gears.

Wow! You're showing her alot of love. Looks good!

Here's an option for an exhaust. I cant speak for how it performs but for $119 its a pretty good deal for a new exhaust.

thats why i bought the damn new caliper, my bracket was all wallered out and danglin off practically.

seabass, thanks. ill do some diggin on that exhaust to see if its something i want to buy. i want a nice quiet sound. puttputt puttputt puttputt puttputt BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

sooo i stuck my floor jack handle in the rear carrier to get a feel for the new rear axle width, i am pleased. pretty close under the fenders but slightly wider.

i got a little carried away tonight, dont know what im doing. gotta make a trip to honda and see if they got a couple seals on the shelf, if not its ebay FTL.

missing something??? lol wth was the previous owner thinking?

dropped a head stud nut allllllll the way in the bottom. also noticed the oil drain plug is stripped out, so much to where i can just pull it out with my fingers.

good thing though, the motor is pretty clean overall.
