Top off the gas tank, check the oil, and tire inflation and go riding....
No trikes. Too old, too crippled. Unless I find one I can't live without!

have fun but be . careful I thought my wife's 87 250sx is a bit unstable and has a short wheelbase IMO. It has a great ride feel but also lacks in turn radius. Plenty of power and great with reverse. These of course are tips for a new or newer rider. I still ride the thing like I stole it and love it......

Get some 20x11x8 holeshot tires or similer. great on the trail and will make your bike buch more stable. Like on the offcaber hills etc because they are flat across. Not rounded. The bike will corner better too.
22 inch tires are a good size rear trail tire IMO.
They would give you enough ground clearance, while not sacrificing handling or ride comfort.
Be careful, SX's can feel a little tipsy until you are used to how they handle.
I agree with the tire change as well... that was the first thing that I did to mine when I had it... the second thing was to find a front rack and weight it up till your used to the little bugger being wheelie happy on you. once your there go for the 200x front clip and have a ball... also if your into night riding a silverstar bulb is a VERY nice upgrade to the lighting! I don't know why, but my 250SX will not handle worth a dam unless the front tire pressure is at least 7lbs. Any lower and it feels like the front end is going to push right over and roll
I like 20" tires on the rear (run ALL skidplates) and the 200X front end conversion for a skinnier tire and front disc brakes......
They are pretty bulletproof aside from all you guys that love water which is the enemy to 25yo trikes.
I beat the snot out of every trike I own but I try not to go swimming with it![]()

I see that too... another reason for having the skinny tire up front. you loose a little flotation, but...and especially in ruts you can muscle the bike a little easier IMO

Thanx for all the great info guys...I didnt think it was neccesary to start a new thread for one question so...
Has anyone cut off the rear plastic mud flaps on a 250sx? I thought about doing it but I wanted to see a pic first...Kinda iffy on cuttin 25yr old plastic thats in pretty good shape...lol
If your plastics are decent I would not cut them.... They are hard to find. And they don't make stock plastics any more... Rather I would sell them and get some maiers with the Money... Then by all means do whatever. Lots of people here would be more than happy to buy stockers if they are good

^ agreed, if you do, plan on drilling them out. The rectangular nut rusts and just spins around.
At one point I made up a dozen or so aluminum holders to stop the rusting.

fi your into agressive ridign find a set of 22 inch razr;s or holeshots with a flat profile and keep the brakes cleane dout of mud and water it gets horrible sometimes. and just make sur ebrakes work well and keep them properly adjusted and stay on top of them .

Dirtcrasher- That is so funny you said that, ha!, ha!. Onnie, Tasha, and I were riding at the lake sunday and the water level was raised 15' higher. The sandy bars and tracks we would ride on are all under water. We had to island hop instead of just riding the shoreline. I looked back at one point and seen Onnie dogpaddleing his trike and all I could see was 3 tires bobbing in the water as his floatation device. I tell ya, gotta let em' ride and not be such a worry wort dad, but that crazy kid found a 6' drop off! Good thing he still has bigger 22's, and not the 18's.
