I've always hear leaded gas is good for old 4 strokes but since the 2 strokes don't have valves, is it still recommended? I'm just curious.

Hey hoosier, hows it been?
I haven't heard of anyone using it in 2 stroke, but now the old racing feuls had it and 2 strokes ran on it... ?
Out of curiosity I looked up 2 stroke lead additive and didn't come up with anything....Beets

Lead for the most part just raised the octane ratting, it did help with the valve seats, but lots of cars that took leaded have been running with out it for years. If your unleaded fuel meets the octane ratting you need, then nope, you don't have to. If not you will have to jump into race fuels, most of witch have lead in them.
I run Aviation fuel in all my 2-stokes. I've been doing this for over 20 years. Aviation fuel 100LL is the most commen type and has alot of lead in it. It has a blue tent to it before you mix it up with oil. Plus it runs better in 2-stokes than normal pump gas. There is a nice small HP gain doing this over pump gas even on a stock 2-stroke. I purchached my Banshee in 96 and ran it on "AV GAS" for over 10 years before I needed a top end rebuild. Not a bad track record![]()
