    KLT250A Electrical

I just got a KLT in to get running. New coil and CDI box. The stator is good, but have no power to switch, no spark, and will not crank. It will crank when jumped on the 2 large posts. The wiring is clean, untampered, and all connections are clean. Would it be the brain box? I've heard these go bad, but never told symptoms of a failed one.
My old KLT did this, but I never got around to changing things out, just sold it.
    Any insight would be appreciated,
    Thanks.
Also heard somewhere you can use a Chevy HEI coil and bypass all of it, true????
You will cry, you will scream if you've heard half the **** I've seen.
Are you gonna get up and burn an X in your head?

ive got that "brain box" if you need it. also they willnot have spark with out a good battery (or jumper cables) its similar to a car ignition system.
the main failure points on my 250 were:
    starter solenoid
kill switch wiring kept burning up between harness and switch
    carb top snapping off
    2 brain boxes went bad
switch on locking rear end would break off (still available at dealer)
battery box dosent hold battery very well (ask bryan raffa how to fix that one LOL)
and tons of other little things but its a fun bike when its running right

It will crank without the CDI functioning but won't spark You need a good battery, key must be on or whatever switch has by-passed the key.
    Chevy HEI??
I did a Dodge 6cyl rotor with 5 points ground off and the Brain box from the same dodge I think it was a diplomat took a long bolt into the center of the cam through the rotor some plastic plumbing parts to make a cover and a lot of dicking around to get it to run, but it did run sort of, never got to higher revs but was marginal -- watch for oil pump failure you'll chew up your cam in nothing flat, I never had any issues with the ones I had running, but had a bunch which didn't run from either cams failing (oil pump) or the CDI , converted a bunch to points from KL dirt bikes and they're still running --the "black box" under the hood by the coil is the biggest weakness on those machines
