    tri-z find

just got this Z from a friend. the short story started a few weeks back. my buddy was on his way to my house on his 200x and came across this 85 z on the side of the road. he swung in and talked to the fella, 20 minutes later the deal was done. 5 bills and this was loaded on his truck. once it was at its new home some fresh fuel and a plug and this pinger was smokin. it started and ran ok at idle but wouldnt take any throttle. after chatting with raffa i think maybe the stator is gone. the next afternoon Pete decided to clean the carb hoping it would come to life fully. unfortunatly thats not what happened, what did happen is after the carb clean he fired it up and this thing went to rattling and banging like no other, he shut it down and called me. i told him to stop and i'd be there asap. once i arrived it only took removing the stator cover to realize that the lower rod bearing was gone! we pulled the engine and tore it down. rod shot, yup! crank bearings shot, yup! chip out of the sleeve, YUP!
needless to say it needs a complete rebuild.
fast forward to now, him and i struck a deal on chrisr200x's old 350 that i had, cash and the z for the needing desperate attention 350
i know i've got my work cut out for me but look this thing over, definetly a low hr unit and very few bumps and bruises for coming out of this area. the z has been stored for most of the last 20yrs, i just cant get over how original it is. check the rim edges and the lower part of the frame. also take a look at the pipe. i cant believe there are no dents on any of this!

Nice, score, Eric. Looks like a Richter priveter silencer, is the headpipe stock, can't tell from the picture. Did you get the raiator scoops with it? Keep us updated on it's progress.

this trike is completely untouched. i have every factory component and most are in great condition. the plastic is faded but hopefully there will be a set of custom colored left when i start in later december. every bearing and brake, complete engine overhaul, all new panels and hopefully some powder. for now this gets shoved in a corner.
