Call the police dept, have them run the vin, just tell them its a trike you are interested in. Remember, the less info you give them, the better off you are.
No trikes. Too old, too crippled. Unless I find one I can't live without!

The WI state patoral said they cant do that any more you gotta do it yourself online and pay. Thats all he could tell me others than the stolen RV data base is state to state and if its reported stolen in IL you can bring it to WI and register it.

Here in MN, when they hit the 25 year old mark, we cant register them anymore...

So can you register them and ride them as atv or are they exempt?

Locally they will run the vin for free BUT you have to take the vehicle in for them to do it, no call ins unless you know someone.

Its not that we cant register them here in MN, you CAN, and people still do. But the off road law books say that if it has 3 or more low pressure tires, and is an ATV, it dosnt need to be registered if it is 25 years old or older. Many of the cops dont even believe this law, and I have actually been pulled over and cited a ticket for no registration, which I fought all the way through court, and won! I wiped the jerky smile of a couple different cops faces, when they seen for their own eyes that it says plain as daylight - 25 YEARS OLD OR OLDER, NO REGRISTRATION NEEDED. The 3 wheelers can be ridden anywhere a 4 wheeler can, not on main streets obviously, but on trails and ditches. Some people still buy tabs for theis 3 wheelers, I have seen a couple with 2010 tabs, just because the person who bought them didnt know it didnt need to be registered, and the liscense place just wanted to make another quick buck.

I tried to register mine, and the DMV told me that there was a hold on my machine, and that they wouldnt sell me a registration. Then I called the DNR (worried) and they told me they wouldnt sell it to me due to its age...

DING DING DING..........We have a winner!!!!!!!! This in my opinion is the only way. How would you guys like to have people here help someone register your stolen trike or get around the system. I'm really suprized at some of the answers I read to this question.

I'm in the same boat. I need to get my 3 wheelers titled before the trip to Glamis in March. I emailed the blm at Glamis from their website with no answer about bringing non titled 3 wheelers into Glamis. I know they have out of state permits, but do the trikes need to be titled in their home state? I'd like to come home with every one I take with me. Not to mention if they ever get stolen you'd have a hard time proving ownership with a bill of sale.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but Thorpe do you know about this new out of state trail sticker people are supposed to buy? I had the awesome privilege of spending a week up north recently, and I was told by someone that there was a new MN law that out-of-staters need to pay for a "trail sticker", and that people were getting cited for not having one. I went to the local gas station in Akeley and they'd never heard of it. Then one clerk said she knew about it but their DNR machine wouldn't do that particular tag, so they hadn't issued any until that was fixed. I went to another place and they pointed me to the first gas station! So I just said forget it, and didn't bother. I didn't get stopped....
