Shifter Issue

Shifter on my big red doesn't return. It engages all the gears perfectly just doesn't return up after shifting. In the attached diag would number 14 cause the issue if it broke. Has anyone else had that piece break? Can that piece be changed with out splitting the cases? My service manual is on my other pc so I cant check if I have to split the cases.

I saw a thread about this issue a while back but I cant remember what was the piece broken or worn. One thing I remember for sure: it wasnt the spring.
Maybe number 9 or 12 on scheme.
P.S:I have the same problem with my SX but its still really rideable if you lift it just enough to engage, that way it will come back.

Open up the side cover with the goodies, look at your book. You'll find a loose/broken pin/spring (usually the pin) etc etc. Easy fix, so many people think it's a "bent shift fork" and it's something very easy...........
