FIRST OFF i apologize for the title I meant "Finally back into the Trike World"
Let me know what you think! I bought this trike about 2 weeks ago and it needed aload clean up. It is not finished by my standards, but its more than rideable!
The only parts not stock at this point are the moose red handle bars, blue oury grips, chengshin front 23.5x8x11 front tire ( the best tire for steering any trike in my opinion)
, the two rear 20-11-9 itp mudlite SP tires, UNI airfilter, aftermarket fork boots, and PRM desert grab bar. This bike looked excellent in the photos when I bought her. But once I started wrenching and taking a closer look, it was obvious I would be making numerous runs the to local honda dealer! The engine is dry and and runs like new! No smoke or anything unusual.
I had replaced the fallowing parts with stock oem components:
-2 exhaust studs
-2 exhaust nuts
-4 fork studs
-rear brake resivor
-resivor bladder
-frame plug
-Spring in kicker
I still have all stock parts. Just wanted to amke the machine my own for trail riding.
I had to do the fallowing maintenance:
-Changed the oil with silkolene mineral based 10w-40, then I will switch to fully syn.
-New honda spark plug
-lubed all the cables (smooth as new)
-Had to clean the carb for hours!
-Spend numerous hours degreasing and cleaning the bike in general!
-atleast 20 hours repairing the tank since it had a few pin holes and only larger hole. After repairing the tank I kreem coated it, stripped the paint, and painted it with appliance (white) paint.
(There is a little trick for paint if anyone is wondering, the appliance paint is expoxy paint and it is hard as a rock when it finally cures, plus there is no need for a clearcoat. It is glossy just like a new coat of paint on a car. It is actually th same paint on a fridge or microwave, or washing mahince.)
-Made a exhaust gasket.
-Put on the slightly used chain from my streetbike, (since I changed out the chain and sprocket combo for a +3 rear for more torque). I figured the chain is partially worn as well as the stock sprockets that came on the trike, so it would mesh well together. And it does, this is only a current fix till I decide on sprockets and a chain for the trike.
-wirebrushed the stock exhaust and sprayed it with VHT 1300-2200 degree black paint! Looks amazing and holds up for a really long time! I used on on plenty of other projects in the past.
-Purged and new brake fluid.
I plan on a aftermaket exhaust for the future.
Getting the frame and some other painted parts powdercoated in stock colors.
Possibly new maier fender, and remade stock decal kit.
Rear brake pads.
Chain and sprocket kit.
I would also like to find a tank that has not been repaired to make a nicer tank for the bike. The tank I have looks excellent, it just comes down to the fact I want unrepaired tank for this trike. So if anyone has one I'll pay a premium price for it, and even consider trading mine as well as cash!
