    Drain Plug for 84 Tecate????

Does anyone know if the oil drain plug from any other trike/dirtbike will fit? I need a new one. Thanks.

is your lost ? or stripped out?

some are straight threads and some are tapered like pipe threads.

If real desperate you could almost fake make one out of clay or playdough and take THAT to the auto parts store or bike shop.

almost better to take the bike if you can

or bring the old stripped one and say it stripped and they can get you an over size.

I started changing oil by laying the trike on its side and drain out thru the dipstick.hole.

    No tools required

I'm sure there are other suggestions that will appear soon too.

No, I have the actual plug but it's not sealing. I've tried a rubber o-ring and that didn't work and I've tried a washer with the rubber o-ring under the washer then the bolt and that didn't work. I think what's supposed to be there is a washer with an o-ring built into the middle of it? I was hoping that one from a KX250 would fit and I could just order one and it would come with the gasket. The threads on mine are fine, I dont know why its leaking.

Your supposed to use a copper washer as a gasket to seal the drain plug. Is there any hairline cracks by the drain plug bolt hole?

GOOD point. some hairline crack in the casting?

I've seen copper or aluminum washers with rubber centers molded into them,

Check the drainplug stash at any parts store.

I use regular TEFLON tape from the plumbing section and wrap that on the threads a few turns, but wrap it in the direction so it doesn't unravel going in.

99 cents a roll.. white for water and yellowish for gas fittings and maybe more.

Teflon plumbers tape works, get the good yellow or pink stuff. I also rethreaded mine with a good metal epoxy to tighten up the threads. DRJOE171- Thanks, I have a new method for my 2-stroke.

Glad it worked out for you! Mine was stripped out when I bought the cases, if that happens you can drill a re-tap to a Tri-z oil plug or Yamaha PW 50 plug. I went that route and got a billet PW 50 plug! Looks trick but Im the only one who knows it is there.....lol.

Well, we know now Tecate50, and unless you post up some nice pictures of your inverts with the green 250r fender, the whole 3-wheelin' community will hear of this atrocity. (lol!!! Ha, ha!!) (This is what I've resorted to because I'm excited to see what it looks like, it's been nearly 2 months and I like looking at Tecates, lol!) Good job schooling big bores with the 'little trike that could', it's appreciated Tecate50.

Hang&Rattle saw a sneak peak pic......its been on the back burner lately. The front end is awesome, I just need to do a few things on my end to complete the project. Been riding so much, I have no time to down the the trike to chnge it around!

Well that's a good reason, just wonderin'. Goin' into the winter will allow a little more down time for me and want to see all I can do, on a 3-riders trike budget of course. + I just want to see it on the Tecate, have an Idea in my head how I picture it looking and really think it'll be cool.
