Did a wheelie and fell backwards and the trike no longer runs: '80 YT125

I had cleaned my YT125 carb well and was doing some fine tuning on my trike. I got it running pretty good and was then just tooling around in my backyard going in circles. I did a wheelie that I could not recover and fell off backwards and the trike was standing up. It then stalled so I just pushed it back over but now it will not start. I can't even get it to start with ether.

I pulled the plug and checked for spark and its getting good spark still. What in the world could have happened? Could the reeds somehow gotten damaged?

this has happened to me, my dilemma was that when it was tipped back all the gas drained from the carb. after alot of pulling it fired up. how long did you try starting it. hopefully its as simple as that.

My silencer has no baffle. I'm going to double check the carb but I thought it was odd that I couldn't even get it to pop using starting fluid.

Please tell me that you have checked for spark before writing on here? Go through and check all the basics, mainly for spark. If no spark, check your ignition switch and make sure all your wire connecions are still connected and check for broken wires. Especially check your ground wire. If you have brittle plastic connectors, you may have busted one and not even realize it. Come on Bobo, check your basics......

It must have flooded its self bad. Shut your fuel off and drain your carb then crank on it for awhile before turning your fuel back on. Hopefully that helps ,Im sure its nothing major wrong.

Too much time here at work again. LOL I read right over it and didn't see. Sorry Bobo. And if he pulled the plug and had spark, the plug wouldn't be fouled. Try a new plug though and some fuel or either down the plug hole and give it a pull and see what happens. You may have loosened up some crud in the bottom of your tank or something in your carb and plugged the inlet or the float needle. I warned you these things were wheelie machines! LOL I'm old, over worked and unloved, give me a break! LOL

severe flooding is commonplace after putting a wheeler on its wheels after it has been up on the grab bar long enough to konk out. thats the reason it konks out. my bet is that its flooded out. pull it over several times with the plug out. then with the fuel valve off, reinstall a dry plug and pull it over holding the throttle wide open, she should refire. then turn the fuel valve back on.....

Fixed it today. I tore the carb apart again and cleaned it all out again but it wasn't dirty. Changed the plug with the proper plug. I looked up the plug and the one that was in the engine wasn't the right one. The parts store had the proper plug for the trike, put it in and it started up after a few pulls.

Dunno, weird since I had spark after the wheelie but maybe it jsut wasn't right.

Good job getting her going again! I'm just not too sure that using ether on a gas engine is that great of an idea. Living in the land of cold like I do, we reserve it for diesels.

wont hurt anything as long as you dont go crazy with it on a gas engine.... and i hope you arent using ether on a glow-plug equipped diesel!! bad things happen if you give a glow-plugger a snort of ether
