I live near Syracuse but have never been up. I hear its pretty cool, logging trails, woods. The problem is you have to be totally insured/registered because the trails are patrolled from what I hear.

I know alot of guys that ride Tug hil regularly. You need to be fully legal, need a regi and insurance. I know they do alot of road/trail blocks and check for all the necessary paperwork.

I went to tug hill with some guys from BLUETRAXX.COM. it is a fun place to ride. we covered about 50 miles the first day eveyone got a late start. then we rode about 120 the second day. the trails and roads are nice but there was one rocky part but it wasnt that bad. gas might be a problem take your premix with you each gas station is about 1/2 to 3/4 tank away. I burned about a gallon between gas stops but I was on a raptor and I was running at a low rpm crusing about 35 to 45 in most places. you need no trail permit for the trikes/quads/bikes YOU NEED: insurance papers and a proof of ownership(title) and if your from out of state like me you need your states trial permit. buy a trail map you can get lost on the back roads if you dont know where your going. gps turned out to be a good thing. and the regular trail snacks and water and T.P just incase.

Its a good place for fast open fireroad riding. Be careful if you have an aftermarket pipe.....They WILL ticket you! I prefer more woodsy trails, but love to take my son to tug hill for the availability of high speed woods riding. If you go check out Cullpepper road (set up like a rollercoaster) Happy trails!...........Jack

the dnr does not use the proper equipment to do sound checks... there were two guys who had raptors with the same pipe and the ranger had the one guy start his quad and said it sounded too loud and gave them both tickets for being too loud.

    Cullpepper road is a blast

when I was there is was very dust and there were 18 people riding so the dust was very thick and we had to ride a slower speeds. but at a fast pace the road was sweet.

yeah, you had the blue headlight lenses.

I was on the raptorwith the sixpack rack that had the redback pack and cooler straped down to it.

I wish that is wasnt so dusty there.
there is going to be a ride next year and it should be a good turn out again.

I will be driving up/over from michigan again.

If you know anyone who knows the trail system there well they are very welcome to join.

the guy who thought he knew his way around really didnt and got us lost...

cool i was going to start a thread on this. I live right in the heart of tug hill. Osceola/redfield. Lewis county. I know like every trail around. I'm the only person around here with a trike. People are starting to ruin it around here because of how they ride, and cops are showing up alot, so i have to lay low.
    I'm currently riding:
    1984 honda110
    1982 honda185s
    1986 honda bigRed

1984 honda 250R-- .80 over, cobra expansion chamber, shaved head, decked cylinder, larger carb., carbon-fiber reeds, 18" carsliles, RK race chain, uni-filter.

    1986 yamaha IT200
    1985 yamaha XT250
    1978 Italie Snark Moped
    and some vintage dirtbike.

    thats sweet trikeman.

maybe we can get you to show us them trails. we hardly touched what was there. I wish I could of stayed longer and got to explore. some people had some shi*** machines and it held us up a bit along with the dust...

I will post any dates of a ride when its scheduled.

the ride last year was a bluetraxx ride but anyone who wanted to ride was welcome.

we had guys on yamahas, suzuki, kawasaki, and there may of been a honda.

I get kind of discouraged with all the crap you have to put up with to ride legally in NYS. There are so few places to ride legal on state land in the first place and those you can ride at you get harassed! From what I have heard NY is one of the most ATV unfriendly states, why?

I have opened alot of the trails from Oswego, I can get to Pulaski, or to Central Square, I have a trail to the county trail that leaves Fulton and heads thru Bernards Bay, them onto Rome. I haven't made it to Rome yet. We can also unload about 1/2 hour from here and get all the way to Tug hill and ride from their. I haven't found a connecting trail yet, but I WILL!!!

Thats awesome! Is it all state land or a mix of private/state? On Saturday I went riding in Palermo for the first time. It is this old gravel bed kind of place with a bunch of jumps, pretty cool. There is also a hare scrambels track nearby that some guys showed us. Are you familiar with the area? Do you have your trike totally registered/insured? Do you ever get stopped on the trails by cops?

Yep thats my riding area. Where out of Palermo are you riding? Are you on the main powerlines heading to lake Onterio? Which track did you find? I know of 4 rite in that area. My barn is about 3 mins from the sand track(the one marked w/ old tires).
PM me w/ your Phone # if you want.

If I remember it was on rt 35a. I think we rode on the sand track but I am not sure as I was following a z400 and a blaster that were kicking up major dust! Mostly we stayed to a real rocky area with alot of jumps and elevation changes. It seems awesome out there, like everybody has a dirt bike or atv and nobody bothers you. I will PM you when I know my next weekend off will be and maybe we can meet up and you can show me some trails. Here is a pic from last saturday, it was the best time I have had on my quad yet.
