Serj Tankian's New album, Imperfect Harmonies

As some of you may know, Serj Tankian was the lead singer to System of a Down before they separated on hiatus to work on more personal projects.
Well Serj's 2nd solo album came out Sept 21, 2010 and i just received it today as i pre-ordered it with the bonus CD.
Im only on the 5th song and so far its amazing, its everything i hoped for from Serj.
If you are a fan of System of a Down or Serj's last album "elect the dead" then i recommend grabbing this different but very satisfying album.

AND PLEASE! if you have nothing nice to say then don't say it at all, Serj is an acquired taste and alot of his music is more filled with passion and art then just sheer entertainment value. Serj Tankian is not for everyone

I have to say, I sincerely agree with and see the multiple meanings of that albums title. Honestly, I lost interest in System after their first album, that was real passion and every song had sincere meaning (for instance, Spiders is about Big Brother watching you remotely). I could enjoy that album from start to finish, which is a rarity these days. That was 11 years ago. I'll check out Serjs' new album though, with an open mind.

I was pretty excited about Serj having a new album out. I personally loved System. Everything was hard hitting, but different. And the message behind the lyrics was almost unavoidable. You could just tell at some point though that Serj was going to go solo. He seems like he was holding himself back. I will definitely have to go and pick up this album soon!!

yeah, Systems first album is amazing. i have all of their albums and other songs not in any albums. though i must say his new album is nothing like system of a down especially their first album. To me Serj will never be as good as when they were all together as system of a down.
this new album is quite slow with alot of harmonies. no guitar or drums really, ALL ORCHESTRA, which i love but i don't think i would like it if i didn't first listen to him in system of a down. to all newbs, you must enjoy the more popular songs from system of a down before you can get into the weirder stuff and then serj's solo stuff. like i said its an acquired thing.

but because i found system of a down in the right order i can now really appreciate serj's music and every bit of heart and soul he puts into them.
I even did a major project back in high school on the Armenian genocide that took place in 1915-1923 if i remember right.

EXAMPLE- the first time i heard them (byob) i thought it was crazy and not enjoyable. few years later i heard chop suey and hated it to and found the lyrics offensive. but then i heard toxicity and fell in love. and since then i have come to love every song made by them. its like a cigarette or an alcoholic beverage, your first time you wont like it and sometimes even the first few times. but before you know it your addicted.

somewhere i have a demo tape from them, it ended up breaking from age, but i heard about them before many others. some of the songs that were on the demo were better than the album version. I have to dig up my old cd's and find that first album. love those guys

Again, if you like this type of music fine, just seems kind of weird coming from the lead singer from sotd.

but thats just it, its "weird" coming from the lead singer of soad. but when was SOAD ever mainstream? they were always bring on something new that was "weird". each album was pretty different and never exactly had a genre.
but yeah i agree with you completely that the new stuff ins't as metal orientated. and because its not many people dont like it.

i think any thing serj touchs is gold. so what if he changed his music to something that more suited what he wanted to do. more power to him, hes in it for the music, not what every one else wants to hear, a quality lost to damn near all artists now.

I like the music of SOAD, like a lot of other bands (Disturbed, RATM, Tool, etc) but their political undertones and ideology in the music absolutely disgust me, so I'm not really able to enjoy it to the level I should. Perhaps thats why I like foreign music that I don't have a clue what their saying

Yes, I agree, it gets annoying. I listen to music for the endorphens, to enjoy it, not have a political view or agenda shoved into my ears. I'm bombarded enough by that chit from the news.
Are you alluding to Rammstein, Billy? They really sing about some awful things in a tongue in cheek manner. But I do like Rammstein, that is some serious musical talent!
