200x--xr200 cam swap problem

I just got done puttind an xr200 cam in my 1st gen 200x. It starts and idles fine. But has way less power now. Night and day difference. I checked spark plug and it's fine. Did a quik carb swap, took er for a run and no difference. Re-checked the timing and gap, took er for a run and no difference. Took off the air filter and no difference either. Anyone else have a simular problem doing this cam swap? I'm kinda stumpes right now. Thanks, Matt.

Did you compair the cams before installation to see if the xr cam infact had a larger lift ? These bikes are getting old and been threw many hands . You might of had a larger preformance cam in it already . Also did you adjust the valves when you did the swap ? You might also need to adjust the pulse generator timing a bit to get it dialed in .

I think it was mostly in my head. I'm not sure. I wish I would have put a micrometer on the cam before i put it in, then I would know for sure. I can hardly get into third gear at my house so it's tough to tell. I'll just have to wait a couple days till I get a chance to do some riding and see how it goes. I have the timing set loke the manual says. If I was to mess with the pulse generator timing a bit, what way should I sytart turning it? I hate goig trial and error, so a recomendation would help.
