got pictures, do you mean the kicker does not spring back, it stays down? Are you winding the spring correctly to put it under tension so it springs back? Have a manual by chance?

well thanks for nothing! i read in a clymer manual because the honda one you get on this site is garbage. the procedure. my starter had a bent spring which i straightend then you hook it in the crankcase in the inner hole on the right of the hole where the starter shaft goes in, also grease up that little washer because they fall into the bottom end. once your hooked have the kickstarter itself on the splines and wind the unit up clockwise, if it doesnt wind pull it out a bit and wind untill you feel the detendpass its lock, which is that metal bracket bolted to the case behind the gear...that is what holds the starter from un winding. so make sure it is bottomed out in its hole with that little washer on the inside and your good to re ass.

^ Yeah, frickin' 3-wheeler people anyhow! Maybe jomo, you'll have better luck downloading a grammar manual, those aren't provided on this site though.

This site is all newbies. The Honda manual on this site is crap.

I doubt anyone on here uses it.

Someone let Honda know about Clymer manuals so they can stop using their "junk" ones and get some good information.

Guys you are being a little tough on this guy. I mean, he came in here asking questions about something he obvioulsy should have never taken on by himself. However, he did have enough knowledge to back the case bolts out. I wonder how many engineers worked on that Clymer manual? Do you think that they consulted Honda, or just put Honda's manual in their own words?

This site is obviously crap. There isn't decades of information on here to help ungrateful newbs out!

Jomo: Maybe while looking for help, you shouldn't bash the site you're inquiring from!!!

Well, Thats a nice thing to say newbie.

READ THE BOOK, READ THE BOOK.

Further assistance: Line up all dots, make sure return spring is in place, use grease to hold a thrust washer on the back, if it has one.

You have to tip the shaft on an angle to get it in it's bore and behind the plate it hides behind (hope you can find that by yourself)

Tipping it allows you to get the spring ahead of that catch and then the shaft all the way in, then the kicker dots will be at 12:00. That thrust washer may now be in the gearbox if it's a 250SX or ES.

    Have a ball............

I'll agree, this site is now filled with newbies and all the guys that knew there crap aren't here very often. I'm here but ignore many more posts now than I use to try and help with.......

No one makes an attempt at downloading a book or didn't learn to read. But I be they can run there phone better than me

Your 100% right. Whats not in the Honda shop manual is in the Clymer. So, if people invest in a machine, they can spend 50$ on 2 manuals.........

    Or find them free.

I think the Honda shop manuals are better laid out then the clymer manuals IMO. Plus its best to have some mechanical knowledge so you understand what they put right in front of you in the manual.
