Front sprocket worn, or clutch issue?

When I get around half throttle, something slips and I have no accelerating power. Looked at my front sprocket and the teeth are there, but are leaning the way that the sprocket spins and the tops of them look a little flat. I really hope this isnt a clutch issue. I can get a pic of the sprocket tomorrow for you guys. Honestly it doesnt look worn enough to be slipping like that.

You would know if it were the sprocket. It would skip and click. Sounds like you need a clutch.

do you hear crunching noises? does the bike wind out and not accelerate?

it accelerates fine up until about half throttle, where is loses all power. bike still moves but its slipping. I hear no noise from the sprocket

if your sprocket teeth are curled it's time to order new sprocket and chain set.but this issue sounds like a clutch

I had a feeling it was the clutch, I just didnt want to tell myself that. This is a job I need to do before my father gets home from work. Ill order new discs right away. Do I need springs as well? this engine is from an 08 CRF230L.

I know what caused it as well, trying to start burnouts in too high of a gear.

heres the sprocket guys. The more I think about it, I didnt have much chance to hear the sprocket slipping. Not to mention that the whole bike was SOAKED when this happened. I could also get a pic of the chain to show you how big it is. (o-ring)

the sprocket, although a little worn looks fine and isn't the reason for your problem.
sounds like your clutch, did u by any chance use any kind of oil thats not specifically for atv/motorcycle use?

nope, its only had a few oil changes and they were done by a honda dealership. Up until half throttle the bike is fine. but after that I remember it moving but slipping somewhere. This sprocket definitely slipped, and I dont think it was from before.

Drain the oil, flush it, then try 10w-30. I've heard all kinds of things about dealerships putting in the wrong oil.

lol, well since I have to replace the sprocket anyway, ill get a new one. And if that dont fix it, on to the clutch!!

Wow, thats all really fantastic........

Grab a new chain, buy the whole clutch keep it adjusted.

I can't believe a person could not hear a chain slipping versus just hearing/feeling a clutch slipping.
