    250SX Front Wheel

A couple years ago I replaced the rear wheels on my 250SX with the solid Douglas .160 rims, and I'm very happy with them. What can I do with the front? My stock wheel is all bent up along the edges, and I'd like to put something nicer on there. I finally got around to trying one of the rears on the front, and the offset is different by 1/4 to 1/2 inch. I saw someone here talking about spacers...would that be between the fork and the brake drum housing? If you do that, don't you mess up the way the brake drum key fits into the slot on the fork?

What have you guys done? I'd appreciate your input.

Space the wheel away from the drum brake to get it centered in the forks. If you place it between the drum and forks it's going to bend your forks out.

And if even 1/4" doesn't center it, you'll need a different rim with a different spacing. Just pull off your wheel and take some measurements with the axle/drum housing in there......

Ok, I had to completely scrap my last post, because it was embarrassingly wrong. I couldn't get my directions right, but now I've got it straight. With the Douglas rim, the wheel is already too far to the right. It would need to go left. Putting spacers between hub and wheel moves it farther to the right. So like DC said, there's no way this rim will work. Which begs the question: is there an aftermarket rim that WILL work, or am I stuck with the diminishing supply of rusty OEM rims?

I did custom wheels on my BR... The front wheel needed a .200" spacer to move it to the right side of the trike....
No trikes. Too old, too crippled. Unless I find one I can't live without!

Thorpe, I was hoping to hear from you. I was sure I read a post from you that you had done this. Do you know, does the BR use the same front wheel as the 250SX? And do you remember what custom wheel you bought?
