    Polaris 2-Stroke Won't Start

    I have a 1997 Polaris Sportsman 4x4 400 2-stroke that I can't get to start. This is what I've done so far:

    1.Checked compression, 120 psi
    2.Good spark
    3. cleaned carb twice.
    4.Getting fuel TO carb, no leaks
    5.Not getting fuel to spark plu
    6.Checked intake boot and reeds, reed pedals have a very small gap so I am installing new boyesen reeds this weekend as well as a new NGK plug, choke cable and carb kit.
    7.Checked most of the electronics

    Would the slight gap in the reed petals cause it to not get fuel to spark plug?

    it can definately make them hard to start. get the new reeds in there and see how she does. sounds like everything else is order

    Check the oil drain in the bottom of the crankcase, if their is excess 2 stroke oil on the crank, it will not start. I had to do it on a Trailboss and Cyclone. A Polaris Tech of 20 years told me.

    Well I've tested all the coils and they ohmed out ok. Spark still seems weak to me though. I installed the boyesen reeds, spark plug, choke cable and carb kit and still didn't start.
    I pulled the exhaust off, some fuel (from me pouring some in cylinder) poured out. Right after she started and ran for a few seconds. Wouldn't start again. I pulled reeds again and put my hand over the intake while cranking and didn't feel any noticeable suction. Put everything back and put my hand on air side of carb and didn't feel anything.
    When I had pulled the flywheel off it didn't look like the crank seal had any leaks, but I didn't pull the stator assembly out. I haven't had time to pull clutch cover off and check there.
    Checked compression again and its at 122 psi.

    What do you guys think?

    I have had a lot experience with those. most that I have had have had to be started on starting fluid when sit for long time or rebuild. they have a drain under crank where you can drain excess oil out. don't use cheap oil. need be ashless or synth
