    3 wheel drive

if this hasn't been done or thought of before I want this named after me or something...

I just had the idea of using the technology behind the BMW two wheel drive motorcycle to make a 3 wheel drive trike, I am not sure how old their design is or how it even works just got the idea a min ago.

anyone have any ideas? when did BMW start using this setup? anyone ready to tackle this project.

    just found this pretty cheap.

holly cow! look at this hydraulic setup, when I win the lottery.

That would be a mean machine....they have those 2 wheel drive bikes called ROKON I believe. I think the problem is that they are really slow.

I look forward to what our 3 wheel professionals have to say about this thread

I don't see anything 2 wheel drive about that bike in your first link. Am I missing something?

Anything you do with hydraulics is going to be slow and bulky. There is no way around that.

Like Silverado says, there are those Rokon two-wheel drive bikes, but they're slow and heavy. They use drive shafts, gear boxes, and chains, all of which makes them heavy and cumbersome as well, but it is well within the realm of possibility. Probably best suited to a Big Red or SX.

in the first link I think that is why the price tag is so high they totally redo your frame you send in you new frame they give you a modified one and everything is hidden I have no idea how it works but it looks like the guy in the pics is moving pretty good. bummer about hydraulics.
still gotta do some searching and try to get some good pics of the BMW.

Ok, and I haven't believe no one has suggested this yet...Why doesn't some schmoo buy a rokon and turn it into a trike????? People are turning pit bikes into trikes. People are turning trikes into quads and trikes into bikes. So for those with the deep of wallet or the basket case rokon in the back shed, Have at it. Instead of adopting all the Rokon crap to a trike, Just add a trike rear bearing carrier to a Rokon. All the people on here who want to have a raised trike for mudholes, there you go. Now step up and do it.

That KTM would look good as a 3-wheeler. Lots of talented builders and engineers on these sites (I am definately not one of em'), hopefully they see this and go, hmmmm.
