    I need help....submerged my 350X...

I was crossing a stream an hit a sink hole. By instinct, I hit the gas and tried to bog through it....made it a few feet and then drowned it out. Water up to the handlebars. I think I sucked water in the air filter...not sure. I floated it to the other side and then drained the float bowl. Then I kicked it over about 5 times and it started. The problem was I couldn't push the throttle more than a little bit or it would backfire and shut off. If I got water in my motor, how much damage did I do???? Please help me on this one! Thanks.

Start by draining your engine oil cause I am sure you got water in the crankcase. Then dry and clean your air filter as you usually would. Then try to see if it will run right, if it doesn't drain all of your gas and start with fresh. Hopefully that will take care of it and you will be riding again.
    Good Luck!

Yep, do what he said, I would drain the gas to. Then if it starts, just let it run you gotta get all that water dryed out. Next time get some big ole ballon tires for that x :-D

Pull your spark plug out and kick it over a few times, if it spits out a lot of water you might have bent your connecting rod (water DOESN'T compress like air does) Dry it all out change the oil and start it up and see how it performs.
If I can't fix it, it ain't broke!!

After all the draining & checking, before you try to start it put alittle oil in the spark plug hole and turn it over. With the plug out. This will help check for problems and put alittle lubrication in rings if you did wash them out.

    Problem solved.

Thanks for the help fellas. I pulled the carb off and cleaned the entire thing with carb cleaner. I dried out the air filter. I drained the oil (which was very milky) and filled it with fresh. 2 kicks later, it came back to life. I let it warm up then I took it for a quick spin. No problems at all. When I got back, I changed the oil again to be safe and I replaced the oil filter. Runs great. Going riding tomorrow!
