    86' TRX250R rear brake setup on 86' ATC250R?

Hey guys, there's an ad in a local buy and sell, someone's scrapped a 86 TRX250R and he's selling the rear brake system, comes with everything from the pedal to the caliper all still hooked together, he said it should just bolt right on to my 86 ATC250R rearend. Is he correct or will there have to be some modification. Just from the look of it, the TRX has a different pedal.

I believe the rear master cylinder is different. Petal is different, for sure. Other than that, the rear caliper is identical. If you own an '85, the caliper bracket might be different than the '86. Getting old, can't remember...

You could try an eom parts look up like babbitsonline, see if the part numbers are the same for each item. My guess would be everything is the same except the pedal/spring attachment and brake line length.

The big difference is the pedals, I'm certain everything else should work, however, since I have not had rear brakes and do not know how they hook up, can someone tell me what part #8 called "ARM, BRAKE PUSH" is for in the schematic below? As well, does the end of the master cylinder lever hook into that hole on the pedal thats to the rear of the pedal shaft? Its a small hole there.

The master cylinders and brake levers are completely different and machine specific.
The caliper and hose will work as long as you have the 86 swingarm.
You will need that ATC pedal, part number 8, and the return spring and also the ATC master cylinder.

Newfie, the brake lever return spring goes through that hole at the back of the brake lever. Part #8 slides onto the splined shaft of the brake lever, and the master cylinder acuator rod attaches to the hole in part #8. So, what part #8 does is, transfer the motion of the brake lever to the master cylinder. Poetry in motion, huh?

Do a search or PM seadoo650.
I think he found a way for 85 200x master cylinders to work on the R.. 200x should be easy to find.
If that caliper is good and cheap..get it..Those are hard to find in good condition for fair price.

also 250r brake levers are a dime a dozen here and ebay
