86 Big Red 250es refurbish project

I wouldn't exactly call this a restoration project because I'm just trying to fix this thing up to ride not for asthetic purposes. Here's the story, picked this thing up for $150 bucks the guy said the carb was shot. This guy obviously didn't know a thing about this trike. There was a wasp nest in the fuel inlet of the carb, blocking off the fuel supply completely; however there was a short in the wiring harness. I went round and round trying to find the problem, but I just broke down and ordered another harness off ebay. Plugged in the "new" harness and she fired right up. As far the engine goes, she's great, the same cannot be said for the fenders and frame. The right foot peg twisetd right off the frame so off I went to ebay again. Woulda had to pull the engine to weld a new pipe correctly, so hell I might as well get a decent frame. Picked one up for $125 including the swing arm. The fuel tank was rusted from the inside, so I cream coated it, then put jb weld on the outside to seal up the pits. Put some nice layers of bondo to cover the weld job. I've got the pics posted below. Next I'm working on the fenders, got them pop riveted with some steel reinforcement then fiberglassed. When I'm done with the bondo job and the rack, I'll post the picks in the next few days. she's a work in progress and I'll try to update as I go.

hell of a job on the fenders+tank, looks like you spent a decent amount of time on them. if you need any parts as you go hit me up, i have tons of stuff for them, too bad about the frame, i would have given you one, i have 2 laying around, shipping might have been steep though, never shipped a frame. Keep up the good work.

well I pulled the engine, front end, and the rear end off of the old frame. Got everything all painted up and ready to go. The engine will look kinda like hell put in with all the fresh paint job, but I don't want to tear down an engine that is running perfect. After a few passes in the mud, it won't matter anyway

Wow I didn't realize how much I neglected to keep the updates rolling on this refurbish project. Things got kinda hectic and work pretty much slowed down to a weekend here and a few hours there. I finally got her all buttoned up and ready to show off. Was able to get everything back together then realized the rear end didn't look right with those tires. There were 22inch tires and after looking at all the paperwork come to find out this big red called for some 25X12X9 tires so I hit up a shop off amazon and got 2 aluminum rims powdercoated black for $39.00 each then wrapped those suckers with some ITP Mudlites. I couldn't leave the tank red with no decals, so I decided to go old school and found some reproduction factory decals for only about $15. I got vacation in 2 weeks and this ride is headed for some serious mud

I got the tank stickers off of ebay from user kiwiracin23 He custom prints the decals per order so it does take awhile for him to ship them out but it's well worth the wait. I also got the front fender big red decal. Here's the link to everything he has listed up for bids. http://shop.ebay.com/kiwiracin23/m.h..._from=&_ipg=25
