    Another horrible accident

    http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,97943,00.html

Read this story and now you see how important it is to wear a helmet and to just be careful. I ride on public roads alot to get from my house to a local riding area and you never know what could happen. Be careful and pray for these people and their families.....

    Not too far away

That is about 2 1/2 hours away from me. It is sad to hear about all those kids.

This was a horrible tragedy filled with so many preventable "donts". Am I reading this right? Were there 6 kids on one ATV?

    Sounds like it.

I saw something on the local news. From waht I could tell it was just one atv. T was trying to see if they would show it. It is possible they were calling a Kawasaki Mule an atv.

...Just another statistic, and more evidence for the CPSC.... So sad....

"People are riding ATVs everywhere and people look at them as a toy," she said. "They are not toys. Period."

Man, what a tragedy. Where are the parents when crap like this happens? They or whoever was in charge, should be held accountable. Like child endangerment charges at the very least for letting them ride like that. People wonder why the government has no problems passing any anti-ATV laws with actions like that.

wether it was a mule or no thats still way to many people for one rig. Not that it would be any better in the daytime but most places its dark after 9 am and yes i know they have head lights but they probly arent enough to be seen well, if they were on. ive driven a quad with 3 people(my cousin on back me driving and his friend on the front) on before and you cant go very fast and still have it turn turn with any kind of accuracy and speed. this is just sad and i agree it should be blamed on the parents.

    That is not good.

What a totally preventable tragedy. For the children involved, their families, the driver of the car, and the sport of off-road ATVs.

Damn. I just read the link at fox news, that's sad. What I want to know is how the hell can six kids hold on while driving at all? I wouldn't be so quick to blame the parents. Maybe they didn't even know what was going on. My mom and dad told me not to do a lot of things, but I still did them. Is it their fault that I did them? Hell no. I didn't listen. Did they know what I was doing? No. One or two of them might have been riding it, then they go by their friends house. They want to ride too, so they grab on to somthing and take off, and so on. I don't know for a fact what happend that night, this is just my opinion based on stuff that I did when I was there age. I thank GOD for my parents. There not perfect but show me who is. If those kids parents knew what they where doing and could have stoped them but didn't care, then clearly the blame should fall on them. Then there is the diver of the car that hit them. She crossed the line and hit them. So chances are that SHE will get blamed for it. If a drunk driver hits and kills somone they blame the drunk driver and not the bartender that sold him the liquor. All blame aside, there where five lives lost that night. That's FIVE TOO MANY!

That is a terribly sad story. K5 I know it was all based on your opinion but I dont think that those accidents could always be prevented. It was not the drivers fault. There could have been a hill and she/he may have not been able to stop in time. My prayers will go out to the family, the kids and everyone involved.

Yeah, I'm gonna sound like a real asshole here...but it needs to be said...

6 people on ONE machine? What the trailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro? These guys deserve a darwin award. If for some reason they didnt know better (in which case they must be mentally handicapped), it may be excusable. This is complete idiocy. While it sucks that someone lost their kids and all, I can't say I sympathize. I'm a real strong supporter of the darwin theory, and this is a good example. Yeah, I sound like a cold hearted trailprotrailprotrailprotrailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro...but so what? These kids were doing an extremely idiotic thing. 6 people on one machine? riding on streets? common now....Parents don't have to know everything their kids do, but they shouldnt hand their kids a wheeler as a babysitting tool and saying "here, go find your freinds and break a leg!". Another statistic in the book. This bullshit happens everyday. Stupid people doing stupid things to remove themselves from the genepool.

The scary part is, these are the same people running organizations like the cpsc. Sure, they want to look out for themselves and keep their defficient genes in the fold, but enough is enough. Let all these assholes die off so we can truly improve our race. "lets ban trikes and other dangerous toys! we cant have our bretheren dying off anymore! we must preserve our culture!"

    Amen to the cpsc.

I didn't mean for it to sound like it was the drivers fault. When I sad that chances are the driver will be blamed I ment that's how the law looks at it most, most of the time. Not allways though. There are times when no one is to blame. I knew a guy that used to drive big rigs, he was in a wreck and hit a car. Killed 2 people. It wasn't his fault, the car pulled out in front of him and he couldn't stop. He got blamed for it. He was proven innocent. He was messed up for a long time after that. I'm sure that the driver that hit those kids is messed up inside to. Around here, every time theres a wreck like that, the driver is guilty untill proven inncent. I don't think that's right. That's what I ment. That's the way the law looks at a lot of times. At least around here.

May GOD bring comfort to all those involved.

I think we all need to stop pretending like we were there, and like we know everything that happened. We know 6 kids were on an ATV of some sort, and we all know thats not wise, but none of us have any idea if that caused or contributed to the accident. We also know the car went left of center which is also not wise. We do not know if safety gear could have saved them, and we dont even know if any of them were wearing it. We know it was likely dark out, but we dont know who did or did not have lights one. We know very little, and I think its unwise for us to decide who deserves to die and who is to blame for the accident when this is all we know. Its pathetic that we cant even get an agreement that this is a tragedy that never should have happened, which parents, car drivers, and children could all learn from.

    A definate tragedy.

The only definate info we have is... 6 kids are dead, and no they did not have any helmets. We still do not have any idea of the rest of the real circumstances. I have a friend who is an EMT near there and he does not even know all the details.

The article said 5 dead, one critically injured. Did the injured child die?
