The pet cock is an old junker . The only thing i can see is either works in poor lighting or just totally clueless. He dosent seem to pc anything on this level. Mostly radiators grates and industrial crap. He is redoing it for free but it will be the last trike part he gets from me.

I am having a friend blast the tank and radiator shop said they ca. Fix the holes. Gona take some time but hopefully second times a charm and i can put the stickers on it lol

Good luck blasting the PC off. From the looks of the tank there is plenty of powder on it and that stuff doesn't blast off easily. If you friend doesn't have a big industrial blaster and compressor he may hate you be the time he's finished. There is a good chance that blasting with the kind of media and pressure needed to remove PC'ing you'll ruin the rest of the tank. That should be chemically striped to keep from blowing out more holes or making the ones you can see bigger.

Some peoples children...that is just retarded.

1st - You would notice the holes in the tank post blasting and cleaning.
    2nd - You repair the holes...correctly.
3rd - You would take the petcock off and tape over the hole prior to PC

I just shake my head at stuff like this.

Those are nice welds. Sand um smooth and youll be able to get it powder coated right, and a stock decal put on. Also, make sure you get all the rust out of the inside of the tank, then redcoat it. This will prevent anymore rust and preserve the tank for a long time. I just got done restoring a 86 200x tank.

The best way to clear the rust out of the inside is to get the kreem Prep kit (A&B). Do not buy the kreem coating, it sucks! Buy redcoat on ebay, it works awsome!

If the welds are underneath, I wouldn't touch them. Nice Tig welds, the more metal the better.

I used Red Cote, it was ok but next time I'm trying the Por15 gas tank sealer.....

With the powder coating being fresh it can be sanded and coated over. I don't like to do that myself but it would be better than risking it in the blaster again. Only do that if you have the same coater doing it over, it might not cross link if the powders aren't the same kind. If he can chemically strip it, try no to let the stripper get inside the tank. PC stripper is very corrosive and will cause the bare metal to flash rust. I agree with the others, those are nice looking welds.

I think i might just give it a real good sanding and recoat i have a few pounds of the same powder.

Truth is i dont trust anyone with my beloved tank anymore lol even if it takes me 12 hours to sand it right its fine with me

Those welds are impressive looking. I was about to say it was amazing how little of the paint was affected, but then I remembered that it is powder coat, so that may be why.

In my welding classes, long ago, I was taught NEVER to weld, braze, or cut a container because of explosion hazard. I went to a radiator shop to ask about brazing a tank and they said nobody in the county could do it, but maybe that is because I live in California.

Thanks . This guy really did some good work . The tank was sitting for a while and didnt have any fumes . I asked a few people before i gave it to my friend and they all had no issues repairing a gas tank
