    How do I get the cap off of the end of the throttle cable?

    I bought a used motion pro twist throttle. It did not come with the cap that screws on the top of the carb that the cable goes through. Is it suppose to come with one from motion pro or do you use the stock cap. If so, I can not get it off the end of the throttle cable. It only spins.

    After you have removed the needle and slide, it should slide off the end of the cable. Just give it a small pull.

    Is this the cap ypur talking about? Because I tugged on this cap extremely hard and it does not budge at all! I almost feel it is only made to rotate and not come off. I might have to brake the cable to get it off I think.
    Here is a picture of the cap on a parts diagram.

    I know on many of the carburator caps, there is a little "c" clip that holds is onto the end of the cable. It would either be on the upper or lower side of the cap, most likely the lower. Take the slide and spring off the cable, and look at the bottom side of the cap. You should be able to get it off with a little screw driver or somthing. Good luck, and dont cut the cable.

    Yamaha Rules is correct. if its just spinning, there's either a ring that was a snap in type or a c-clip.

    You can do 2 things;

    Take a small punch and work it out of the cap,,, not too hard just time consuming.

    Drill a very small hole on both sides into the brass clip, this will break the clip.
    Nothing to ride... for now
