Scored a free KX 250.

We'll my little Brother found it on craigslist, basically he just had to cover gas. Needs some work, and parts. but its got compression. and spark. Sort of a brother and brother project. Still don't know what year it is.

85/86 only had the gas tank style, 87 was an odd ball year before then then with 88-89 style that looked like the last generation kx500. nice score clean it up. i want one.

1985 was last year for drum brake,

1986 was same body style but added a rear disk.

Yep, it's a 85. As mentioned the 86 had a rear disk, and 87's had bottom link uni-trak rear suspension. I always loved the 87's for some reason........

Just cleaned the carb, fired on first kick. Question, anyone know what years exhaust will fit. my neighbor has tons of 2000 kx 250 parts but im thinking they wont work.

85-86 parts only fit man. look up on ebay.

the motor should have been black but it looks about right but who knows it could be an 89 motor.

85 cylinder was odd ball year for power valve setup.

I believe a pipe for 87-89 would also fit without much hassle. The silencer would have to be universal or custom cut and welded. 1986 pipe will fit directly. A 2000 pipe will be low be could probably be made to work since I've seen newer motors on T3 and its basically the same frame geometry.

What is odd is the rust on the kick start lever. Take better pics of that.

I suggest a new KX250/500 intake boot that angles to the left with a UNI POD filter. Look at the Tecate setup here:
