does anyone know how these things run??? do they overheat pretty easily???? things i should look for before buying?
These are pretty much a copy of the YZ's from the late 70's. Mine is a 1990. Very reliable tried and true tested technology, nothing new here other than the front hydraulic disk brake. Youll find the motor is very similar to the Blaster, and they are factory piped for midrange. Ill never understand why younger people always assume that air cooled motors overheat. Theyve been around a heck of a lot longer than liquid cooled! I ran two Blackwater 100's with my RT180 and it did not overheat, and I cant imagine anyone giving it a harder workout than that.
No particular problems with this bike, as theyve had about 30 years to work the bugs out. Just check bearings, chain, sprcokets, brakes, and all the other stuff that normally wears out on any bike.
That guy is going to need a new rear tire soon. :?
That tire is just now broke in, perfect for vulcanizing some paddles on it :-D

This is a 98' RT 180. The older 90's blue models had an all sliver frame, and blue fork boots. I own a 97' model, and they are pretty decent bikes, not really fast, but they are reliable. They are a great trail bike. I bought mine about 2 years ago, rode it a little, and crashed into a 4 wheeler going wide open. shock I screwed the transmission 3rd to 5th gear, and messed up the kickstarter. Im still waiting to get it fixed. As far as the overheating thing, they dont overheat easily unless you are in a non ventilated area, and its really hot outside. They are just as good as any air cooled engine, and stay cool pretty good, because a lot of air is able to get to the engine, there are no fenders in the way, etc. )
