Does tire height increase with a wide tire, narrow rim?

Im wanting to keep my stock 200x rear rims and add some 18 or 20inch tires. Does putting a 11inch wide tire on an 8x8inch wheel make the tire balloon up or just make the sidewall bulge?
Tires in question are 18" kenda knarly, razr, or razr cross. All the tire choices for 8" wheels are 10 or 11" wide

I like the look of 18" tires but i really should have more ground clearance. I would be happy if one of these had an installed height of 19" or so on the narrow rim.

    Thanks

It will work...but not great. you'll end up bubbly on the sides and pointy in the center. You can give it a shot, but one things for certain, the will be a bi$%h the get on.

It all depends on the tire manufacturer. If you have an 8" wide rim, it may be curved at the top and the center will wear out 1st. A 9" wide rim would be better. As is you'll only be 1" wider per side with a 10" wide tire. The type of tire has allot to do with how flat or curved it will end up. Like Holeshots, they tend to lay flat......

If your at 8x8 be careful with your selection of an 11".......

I looked at it a little closer and its actually a 9inch wide wheel. I think ill look for a 10x20 tire so i dont have any problems

10 or 11 wide tires will go on 8" wheel no prob.. some machines even come stock like that... and as said above even tires of the same rated size vary from brand to brand and type,etc..
