What sizes of taps and dies do i need to fix threads?

I'm thinking about buying a nice set of taps and dies what are some sizes that are used on trikes? I just wanted to make sure the kit I get has the correct sizes and thread pitches in it. Anybody have any preference in brands? Need a kit thats going to last along time. Might end up on my Christmas list if i can wait till then.

I bought mine several years ago and it was a 50 pc. Craftsman standard and metric tap and die. 4mm through 12mm with various thread pitch. I haven't found I needed anything yet. But that won't get you anything for the rear axle threads. My answer to that was a thread restoration kit.

Get the biggest set you can afford; you will use them more than you think. The sizes you need for trikes are common and will be in any set.

ive been eyeing up the craftsman metric set also glad to hear you guys like them. I'll probably put one on my christmas list lol. I cant count how many times i could have used a good tap set. I have a few misc loose ones layng in the tool box but 9 out of 10 dont have the size i need. Just last week i had to drill a cpl bolts out of a quad i was working on and didnt have the taps handy to rethread it.

Yea man I use my tap and die set just about every day had it for over 5 years and I work at a Honda motorcycle dealership so the longevity of the craftsman is good

I will be upgrading soon, but I bought a metric set at Harbor Freight for $15 and they have worked just fine so far.

I have got by for years with just a few of the common sizes. 90% of the fasteners are 6mx1 8mx1.25 10mx1.25 or 12mx1.25 sometimes you'll need a 5mm or a 14mm-15mm for a swing arm bolt or something but a thread file is a beautiful thing for the larger sizes.
