id make it a point to ride right on the edge of that property line from now on..all day everyday if possible, without the cops actually seeing you on thier property or the owner having photos i dont see it going anywhere in court, you could probably get him for filing false charges make him cover all your costs and impound fees

edit..just less than a month ago i was on a highway on my bike running right along with traffic and passed and state trooper, he never even hit his brakes or acted like he even thought twice about turning around, crazy how different veiws in parts of the country can be

Get a lawyer. Also what police department? This should be posted. Well maybe not if they are dicks like that they would probably also mess with you and your family. But get a lawyer for sure.

And for next ride buy a Helmet Cam film your self on your bike riding on your property. And ride all freaken day on your property next to theirs. Heck take off your exahust too.

First off if you do decide to fight it, get a lawyer outside your county. They aren't so buddy buddy with the Prosecutor then. This is what i was told after i was arrested a few years back and made a mistake by getting the lawyer everyone told i should use.

This state totally sucks in so many ways!!

2. There isn't some stupid ordinance in the city, or township, etc

Then:

1. Who saw you? You have a right to meet your accuser in court
2. Crossing the road may create a problem, push it across

Well I just got back from the police station and impound. $153.50 for the impound. I know the tow yard so I wasn't charged for the tow. It seems the township gets $153.50 on every impound thats theirs to keep. As for fighting it I'm just gonna see what the tickets are. My neighbor is a cop and started laying into me about all the calls they get from the storage units and that I should just eat it or they'll be over everytime I start a bike in the yard.He said next time no title no insurance no bike .They will take it for being an unregistered atv. Keep in mind I have to cross the street to ride and I was told even pushing it across is against the law. Once it hits public property, the street, runing or not I'll get a ticket. I was also told a fence is a good idea and not to tell the kids I'm putting one up. If I do that there might be no charges but I'll get still get a few fines for the trouble of them comming out. My lawyer say's to just wait and see but if I just get the fines I'd be lucky and not to fight it cuz they'll be there everytime someone cuts through. Trust me if it was the other township on the otherside of the property I wouldn't be here. I ride with those cops. It's just my township is money hungry and will screw with you. Get in your car and run to Quickie Mart and they'll pull you over just cuz they can. You can't do anything because it's your word against the police. Now if your a judge who are you gonna believe?? It's just not worth the trouble.
I now have a stock 85R for sale to cover the fines and to let the cops think they've won.

I believe you, but man that's just f'd up, the cops around here are no better. in new jersey I really fail to see what purpose the cops of today serve? all they do is harass citizen's and hand out tickets.
What happened to protect and to serve? I don't see them protecting us, but I do see them serving us tickets

There are very few "friendly neighborhood cops" in to days society, it's very sad but true. I believe there is a tri-fold reason for this:

1. Most cops were picked on in school
2. money hungry government(revenue)
3. a populace full if dis-respectful teenagers and pot heads, that only listen when the harsher consequences are applied

There you have it, Hoss's three step out line of why cops of today are dicks

If you weren't breaking the law you shouldn't be charged with anything. See what the tickets are then fight them if they are bs. It's odd that they were not issued when the bike was impounded. Unfortunately you will probably get the usual unregistered - uninsured vehicle stuff that you can't argue with.
I wouldn't mind looking at the bike if you were selling it, but I would have to take a 2-3 hour test drive on it to make sure it was right for me. Actually I wouldn't sell it yet if I were you, see what happens first, besides selling it means they won.

Just gotta wait for the mail and see. YES their gonna mail them to me. As for selling the stock R no biggie I have 4 more to play with. I though about selling the one that got impounded but I wouldn't get what I have into it so see ya STOCKER. I just want the cops to know I see their point and if it looks to them like selling the R will prove their point then so be it.
And thanks everyone for the sorrows for the dog. My boy was with me 18 plus years and was with me 24/7. Many have met the boy at Summit and he loved that place. The ladies at the gate would take him in the office with them to hang out and wait for daddy. I have no kids and he was truley a son/best friend to me. I think everyone should own or be owned by a Chesapeake Bay Retreiver if given the chance.

Very sorry to hear about your pet, I have a hard time with pet death because they are so loyal and don't harm anyone.

I'd never get a lawyer, it would be 2000$ down the tubes and they drag it out to charge you more hourly.

Because no one saw you riding on that property, they really had no business arresting you and it could be won in court, or they could just lie. Depends on your record in the past also.

Like you said though, if fighting a couple tickets and possibly even losing creates a bigger problem for you (according to the cop neighbor), I wouldn't fight it either. Once you disrespect or piss off a cop, then they remember you and your riding on thin ice.......

Come this May, ALL dirtbikes, ATV,C's MUST BE REGISTERED (In MASS) if on any land other than your own; You cannot even ride it across the street.

They are making it harder and harder to enjoy anything. My Dad (71yo) says the day he can't "play hockey and get la.." he has nothing to live for. I feel the same way except for me it's "riding trikes and getting la.."

You need to talk to the neighbor and let him know what happened, have him call the police and drop the charges. If you have too take pics of your tires and the tracks that are out there to show the diff....Beets

^ In my Town, once it's in the computer the best they can do is ask the cop not to show up, but the DA can still press for the fine.

I can't understand why there isn't an automatic appearance in district court when arrested, rather a ticket?

Whats the point of arresting a guy if you don't force him to bail out and show up in court? Couldn't they have written the tickets right then and there when they approached you?

Not all COPS are dicks... But I know for a fact alot of people get a "break" (verbal warning) from the police and then don't learn their lessen and do the same crap again. I don't think cops get bored and decide to bust balls either there is a lot more enjoyable things they can be doing than busting a kid on an ATV. Most cops don't care about ATVs unless they get called over for a complaint, then they have to do their job.

In my town we have a town ordinance against ATVs, etc. YOU CAN GET A $100 FINE EVEN ON YOUR OWN PROPERTY AND YOU DONT HAVE TO BE RIDING IT, IT JUST HAS TO BE RUNNING. IT THEN GETS TOWED $85-100, $25 A DAY STORAGE UNTIL YOUR COURT APPEARANCE USUALLY 30 DAYS LATER....subsequent offenses are $200,$300 etc. For some reason the town council doesn't want ATVs in my town. I think it originally stemed from people riding on the road due to no state/public riding areas.
