If you want to use anything Permatex makes CopperCoat in an aerosol, specifically designed for head gaskets. It was recommended to me buy a guy who build race engines. Also it never goops up like the stuff in tubes. I like it but its not necessary. But I wouldn't put either of the things you have on the head gasket.

Threbond is for places where there is no gasket - Rocker arm covers, some center cases etc.

Head gaskets, I stone the 2 surfaces flat, removing all high spots, and use the OEM gasket whenever I can......

This gasket going on a big bore / resleeved stock cylinder, biggest problem with these cylinders
    Are leaks.

So they recommend a good sealant to eleminate any leaks.

The last gasket was coat with copper sealant, on this cylinder.

spray copper would've been better, but 1104 was the better of the two choices

you can re use a copper gasket many times, but ya have to anneal it. (make it soft again) Get it red hot with a propane torch (800f) then quickly dunk it in water, that will get the copper "dead soft" then clean it with scotch brite. (Or just buy a new gasket) installed dry is better.

You did right buy the threebond we use it on our LTR head gaskets.Curtis sparks also made sure we did this back in the R days. You only want a thin film on it I put some on my fingertip and rub my two fingers together then put the gasket between and go around the gasket. You should hardly be able to see it. Also make sure both surfaces are clean i use lacquer thinner to make sure its oil free.If you put to much on you have a chance of clogging you water ports.
YOU WANT TO USE 1211 THREEBOND!
