    250 SX Question

How far can a 250 SX go on a tank of gas?

    Thanks,

    Matt

Anybody have even a rough estimate on the MPG?

Also what were the difference in model years of the 250sx?

There are too many variable to give an accurate answer.

Using low gears over rough terrain, mud or snow will suck down the gas a lot faster than high gears will with solid and smooth trails.

I can say that on one of my trips over gravel and silt to Knik Glacier and back was around 35 miles. Straight riding, no playing or exploring. The machine started with a full tank; at the end the reserve was nearly out.

If you are concerned about running out of fuel; pack extra gas.

On my 85 BR, I can do 60 miles of tough trail, without tapping the reserve...

    ^Seconded.
This is my trike. There are many like it but this one is mine. My trike is my best friend, and it is my life. I must master it as I must master myself. My trike without me is useless. Without my trike, I am useless. I must ride my trike true. My trike and I know that what counts is not the amount of miles we ride, but the time we ride together. My trike is human in it's own ways, therefore I will learn it as my brother. I will learn it's weaknesses, it's strengths, it's parts, and it's soul.

    Thanks for the replies guys.

If you're averaging about 60 without tapping in-to the reserve that's about 23.5 MPG for the 2.56 Gal tank, plus the reserve. Any recommendations on fuel packs? Has anyone outfitted a three wheeler with Rokon wheels that hold fuel or water?

I thought I had a sweet deal on an SX, but I was just a little too late. So the search continues.

I wish. Does your SX have racks on it?

That's the thing I don't currently own an SX. I was just about to pull the trigger, but I was too late. When I do find the right SX racks both front and back will be high priority. I plan on outfitting it as a Bug-out-vehicle of sorts. The more versatile the better. I don't care for catching air or anything like that.

Anything else you guys can point out about this machine is appreciated. The title says 1987, but i thought the 87's were white and blue?

86 and i assume 87 were red, white and blue. that's an 85, unless someone changed the tank and headlight shroud. not sure about the tires. looks pretty decent, if it runs good prolly a decent price.
