    Big Red Front Electrical Plug?

Is there some type of adapter so I can hook a winch up to the front plug outlet thats near the headlight? It has one slot like this - and the other is vertical.

I dont even know what type of plug that is but I want to hook a winch upto the front....

from what my buddy has told me it is meant for the Big Red's accessory spotlight.

from a bit of searching. could the Big Red handle a winch? i would think most winches would pull more power than the Big Red could really give. i could be wrong, i am wrong more than i care to admit and there are a few trikes on here doing it this way i believe.

If you pry the rubber plug apart with a flat screwdriver there is two slotted screws inside that you can hook two wires to. I have a winch on one of my big reds and had no problem with it but it is hooked directly to the battery. It might work hooking it to the plug I have never tried it.

I should also mention I never winch myself out while still sitting on it I walk beside its too much pressure on the front forks. Honestly it doesn't work that great but it does work if your really stuck.

The Big red will take a winch no probem. Might not take it every day all day, But 12V is 12V. I have seen winches on 125 quads befor.

I just swapped out my factory plug with a $5 NAPA accessory plug (cig. lighter type). Works great with my spotlight, cell phone charger, GPS, whatever.

Each Big Red came with an adaptor which switched the "Japaneese" plug to a 12V american one (like on some radios, and razers... oval with 2 prongs) I'd find one of those cords, and cut it and splice the 2 wires to your winch, else run the wires directly to a fused circuit in that box under the headlight. Personally, I use mine with the Hondaline Spotlight. :-)

No... There is nowhere near enough amperage available at that plug to run a winch... Bad idea if anyone is thinking about it...

im with Thorpe. no where near the right amps. if you can get it to work without popping a fuse its still too much power draw through a small gauge wire. same idea as running aviation fuel through a stock motor, sure it will work... how long?

99% of winches come with wiring. why not use the size of wire it comes with!? its almost always 12g wire, with the exception of the 3500 and 4000 that usually come with 8g.

also, is this the same style plug my trx300 uses? looks like 2 spade wire ends will pop into it?

As soon as you load the winch, it will blow fuses or burn the wiring down. Burn your wiring down... Dont encourage others to do it too...

There is a reason the directions say to use 10 gauge wires, not 18 gauge... Yes 12vdc is 12vdc as you put it, but amperage is amperage as well... Just because you can fit a marble in your nose, doesnt mean its a good idea to shove one up there...
