    ATC110 motor mounts broke

I needed to get out of a ditch, and the only way out was a pretty steep hill. I took the hill, but the ATC ended up wheeling backwards at the top, and it fell on me and rolled back down the hill.

Recently during a nice trail ride, I heard a strange sound coming from the front. So I looked and discovered both of the cylinder head engine mount tabs had broken off!

I decided to go over the ATC and check everything. I found that the left hand hub was very loose, and the other two engine bolts were also loose. I was pretty surprised to find all of this wrong.

So here is what I did.

Here are all of the pieces laid out. Look at the two jagged shaped pieces I cut out of some metal stock:

Here are the pics after I welded the scraps onto the bracket:

I had to do some clearancing on the gusset pieces but it worked out very well.

    On the bike:

This bike rides like a tank, now. It doesn't slide all over the dirt like it used to, and I can actually make corners now! I think that the tabs were either already broken or very cracked because it has never handled this good before.

Is that red RTV all over the intake? Oh, and a new motor mount from ebay would be very inexpensive... I may even have one I can send to you for shipping, lemme look.

that should work. they don't technically need the front mount, although it's a really good idea on a 3 wheeler or any off road vehicle. lot of the street vehicles honda sold with these style motors did not use the front motor mount, but there is a good reason honda put them on there. Did you check the rear mounts? and if the bolts are tight? Loose bolts could of caused the front mount to break.

haha, thats so common on those 70/90/110 motors, everyone over tightens the intake bolts and strips it out. I have been lately putting time certs in the intake and exhaust stud before they strip out, so I don't have to deal with extracting a broken stud or bolt. People forgot those little M6 bolts are only supposed to goto >90 INCH pounds.

I ended up using nuts and bolts to secure the carb to the intake and studs to secure the cylinder head to intake. I did not want to mess with it so I gobbed the rtv on it just in case.

Those gusset tabs are almost 1/8" thick, that mount is 15x stronger than stock.

Also, this mount alone accounted for 75% of my cornering and handling woes. This bike handles very well now that the mount is repaired.

Thank you for the offer though I appreciate it.
