The Kansas Department of Health and Environment on Thursday issued an air-quality permit that clears the way for construction of a proposed $2.8 billion coal-fired power plant to be built near Holcomb Kansas by Sunflower Electric Power Corp. This is a 895 megawatt net unit.

Sunflower president Earl Watkins has said construction of the plant would produce 1,900 jobs with 88 permanent positions added upon the plant's completion in 2016.

This has been a long battle for my company. We had a terrible governor that wanted on obamas staff so badly she had our previous air permit revoked. Once she got on obamas cabinet things took a turn for the better.
