Thoughts on engine balancing and connecting rods

Gathering some info for my upcoming build. I'm putting together a Sprock bigbore engine for my Tri-Z and came across an article about balancing atv engines. Having the rotating assembly for my Tri_Z balanced makes perfect sense, as every engine I've ever built for my cars has been balanced. I just wanted to know your guys thoughts on having the balancing done, or who has had it done and were the results worth it?

Also, I wanted to know if there were any choices for connecting rods other than OEM and the "Hot Rods"?

I've had this book marked for years, and have found it to be an incalcuable education tool when it comes to learning how to balance rotating assemblies on a budget without stupidly expensive dynamic balancing machines.
