    250.00 Big Red 1985- SCORE!!!

This was posted on craigslist for 300 and had my name all over it, I called about 30min after it was posted and was called back promptly by the owner. Told him i could pick it up tonight and he told me 250.00 then if I could be there tonight. Couple hours later and I came home with this:

Original title, new tires, has some caked on roofing tar on front and rear fender, one crack in right side fender that was fixed, new battery, new filter, solid racks, hitch with ball...

    Good deals!
    Nothing to ride... for now

You sure come across some wonderful deals and to the best of my recollection that is the best of the best deal I have seen you pick up on.
If it is not me getting a great buy on a machine, I am just as happy to see it is one of our own here on the boards scoring a great buy.

    Nice trike man ! john

it is amazing athat anyone would even consider selling such a machine for a measly $250. what can you do with $250? Next to nothing. That guy proobably filed his truck up with gas and bought a few groceries and POOF, his $250 was gone. I would not dream of selling a clean big red for anywhere near that figure

Very nice. It looks to be complete. The rear fenders with the side panels are worth what you paid. Even at $500 that would have been a great buy imo

The thing is that I wait and watch, if I dont see it as a good deal, I will wait for the next one. Another thing is that usually one of these guys that owns a original trike, will know other owners. He also has a 350x that was CLEAN as could be, but he is keeping it for his son. I didnt press upon buying that one and just said "its good to keep a new generation of trike riders going". Before I left to pick it up I let him talk about riding it for a while and chatted back about a few area's we both have been. That was when he told me "hey you seem like a good guy and if your coming tonight and really want it, just give me 250 and we can call it a early christmas present"

Patience is the key, I got my 250sx last year waiting a MONTH for the guy to make up his mind, and after that came the 350x from his friend. Every trike *cept my first one* came from the original owner and each of those owners told me "Its old, why would I ask some obscene amount?"

    Runs like a champ too!

You definately landed an awesome deal there. I was stoked to find one for 200 in rough shape, I can't imagine the excitement finding one like that for 250. Congrats man!

Going over the bike I found that it has a removable headlight! that was never used...haha. I didnt know that then I looked in the owners manual and felt like a idiot. The roofing tar is stuck hard but I should be able to get it all off with some 1000grit then 2000grit sand paper and some goop. Undercarriage is good with minimal rust and very lil dents, left side mudflap is missing and one of the knobs to remove the rear fender is broken. Both side guard on the rear fender are missing. All the brakes are perfect, cables are smooth and non rusted, switches are good, foot brake has some rust that i'll clean and paint. Electric start is good.

Runs good, but is a to start when cold, is this normal? A couple kicks and it fires up, but the e-start struggles to fire it off when i first started it this morning. Choke slides smoothly as well. It was colder at 35 degrees this morning so maybe thats why?
