I ran it in my 200X and tons of other wet clutch engines and never had a problem. However STP car oil additives can have too much moly, as well as Lucas to make a wet clutch slip. Modern car oil is actually if anything too low in content of moly and zinc. Wet clutch oil has more moly and zinc, so it has more friction reducing molecules than regular car oil. Wet clutch oil reduces the friction in the clutch to allow for smoother shifts. There's really no way that regular car oil ruined your clutch. Probably was just the clutches time to go, and coincidence.
