    Hip Hip Hooray!!!

Today is a very good day. I am now the proud owner of a 1980 yamaha yt125, my first trike. I have a feeling this will be the first of many. Its got brand new tires and a new recoil starter on it, so the $150 i paid for it doesnt feel too bad. The only downside(kinda) is that it is currently not running. So tommorow I plan on taking off the carb and giving it a thorough cleaning, and putting some fresh gas in her and see if she will fire. Wish me luck.

I picked up an 85 125 not long ago

11 years ago it was bored, wiseco hi comp piston, fully rebuilt, ran enough to make sure the build was good, and stored. after 11 years of sitting, I did nothing but add gas and oil, and it started and idled on the second pull.
This is my trike. There are many like it but this one is mine. My trike is my best friend, and it is my life. I must master it as I must master myself. My trike without me is useless. Without my trike, I am useless. I must ride my trike true. My trike and I know that what counts is not the amount of miles we ride, but the time we ride together. My trike is human in it's own ways, therefore I will learn it as my brother. I will learn it's weaknesses, it's strengths, it's parts, and it's soul.

Yeah they multiply. I bought my first 200X last fall, now I have it, a YT175, (one for parts), a 250ES and once I get taxes back....oh yeah a Tri-Z (buying it from a friend so I know its not going anywhere).

You'll have a lot of fun with that YT125. I have the condensed service date I can e-mail it to you if you want. Even if the oil injection system is hooked up mix your gas for the first tank just so you know everything is good. Clean the pilot really good. I have been mixing mine still. While the carb is off you might want to throw on a set of Boyesen Power Reeds. Mine ran way better with them.

I cleaned the carb all out today and put it back on and with the aid of starter fluid, it started, but it revved up and then quit after about 2 seconds, and then it takes about 15 more pulls plus some starter fluid to get it to start again, and it does the same thing. Anybody got any suggestions? also on the bottom of the fuel petcock is a white plastic plug looking thing. My neighbor who thinks he knows everything about everything took a vise grip to it to drain the fuel tank, but he didnt get it out and all he accomplished was tearing it in half, causing all the gas to come flying out when the petcock is in the ON position. I think it is a fuel fliter, but im not sure. Where can i get a replacement? Also I need an air filter. where can these be purchased?

Did you clean the petcock? Fresh gas? Make sure you have an extra spark plug or two on hand also. You dont want to be fighting two problems at once. Good luck!

Oreillys has the fuel filters. The motor dying could be a number of things. Clogged jet in the carb, low compression, bad plug/gas, the sky is the limit. pics always help to diagnose a problem or identify a part.

Well I have a few more than 2 problems. haha. Anyways, my throttle cable is pretty screwed up. The splitter where the throttle cable is seperated to go to the carb and the oil injection i think is broken. Also where the carb connects to the airbox there is at least a 1 inch gap so the carb doesnt connect to the airbox. If I can get both of these fixed and get some new spark plugs and an air filter and fuel filter, I should be good to go.

Yeah, by pass the oil injector. It will save you a motor if the injector has ceased to function. Be sure to pre-mix your gas though. The airboot gap is a big problem. You need to get that corrected or install a UNI filter. Sucking in that much air will throw off your fuel/air ratio.
