probably time for a new cable, but make sure the slide in the carb is free. you can also take the top of the thumb throttle to check that and lube it but its probably the cable
Remove the 2 screws on the rt. of the carb, remove plastic cover. Raise linkage with your fingers and remove cable.
Now, does that linkage in the carb go through the whole range without issue?
Does the cable go through the whole range without issue? Hold the end removed from the carb, press thumb throttle and feel for binding.
You could also have an issue in the thumb throttle itself ; There is a nut that sets how snug it is within the nylon type bushings and a locking tab that come loose.

Curious on the outcome of this issue. I just strted having the same problem with my 350 but havent had a chance to look into it yet. I think its something in the carb itself since i already lubed the cable and throttle assembly. Hopefully will be able to look at it this weekend.

My 350x does the same but only if you hold the throttle at the same spot for awhile like if your riding down the rode. Prolly needs a new cable is all. Might try to oil it.

Digging into this old thread again. I think I may have figured this problem out. The throttle on both of my 350x's was very notchy, it would get to a spot just after idle where you would have to push harder then normal to get it to go then it was a sudden blast of throttle. I oiled the throttle cable itself but it didn't help. the throttle did move fine if the motor wasn't running or if it was running in neutral. I took the top plate of the carb and seen what the problem was there was alot of build up around the slide so I hosed it down really good with some penetrating oil then cleaned that out with some carb cleaner. That fixed the problem that my machines where having. I hope this might help someone else in the future. It must be a common problem with 350x's it seems odd that both of the ones that I have would both have the same issue.
