    Tecate Kickstarter over rotates???

Just finished rebuilding my 1985 tecate motor and the kickstarter works fine but it over rotates so that it contact the clutch case at the bottom of the stroke???? Looking for any help I can get.. I know I'm going ot have to pull the motor to fix it but would like ot know exactly what Is wrong before I do.. the spring is in the correct hole and would the correct direction. ALso the kickstarter grabs on every kick, where I was use to having to "preload with a couple of light kicks before I got the strong one to start it. Not sure if that information will help but I thought it was interesting

is there a stop on the foot peg? most kickers will hit the cover, but they are stopped by a stop on the foot peg.

Could it be a bit bent? Like SBLT said, they usually hit the peg.

You may be able to loosen the inch bolt and pull it off the splines just enough to clear the cover......

I just went out to the garage, mine hits the case too when cycled by hand at the very end of the stroke. But when you kick it over by foot I don't think it will hit the case because the lever where your foot sits is a little below the footpeg. It doesn't contact the footpeg. There are no marks on my case where it does hit.

Yea, I was cycling it by hand on the bench after I put it all together and I didn't see a stop after I put it in the machine but that makes sense about using your foot and where it would stop... Does yours grab on every kick???

Yes, but it sometimes takes a couple of cycles to find the top of the stroke for a good kick.

Here's a pic of the kickstarter and case

In this pic the kickstarter is touching the case, you can see how low the lever is relative to the peg.
