    350x kick starter issue!

I am having some issues with the kickstarter on my 85' 350x, and was wondering if anyone could shed some light on this. It seems to get hung up on something internally, locking up every 3 kicks. When it locks up, I mean it freezes up to the point which it will not allow a full kick down. Upon the 4th kick, however, it will free itself and allow me to kick it over. Once it is started, warmed up and shut off, it seems to freeze up less often when i go to kick start it again. Does anyone have any ideas what may be causing this? I have not torn into the motor to see what I am up against. Thanks for any input.

i have a problem with the kicker on my r. it starts but sometimes it will go down and not connect with the teeth. if your 100% confident with yourself take the kicker off then remove the case and look at the inside. you should be able to see the problem if not put the kicker on and pull it down with your hand. dont forget to drain the oil.

Sounds like either the bushing on the inside is worn out, or your spring is worn out, either way you'll need to open 'er up and see for sure. Once you pull the gear out, the problem should smack you in the face:-)

Something is wrong, I've never had that experience. All I can do is tell guys how to set the cam and cable freeplay and that should do it.

If you are 180 out when adjusting the freeplay, it may be hitting the valve - not good.

I agree with Flossy. If it is locking I would assume that the spring is not recoiling properly. Could it be check that the kicker itself is secure to the splines. If you lucky it just a tightening issue ! Happened to me before with my gear shifter

I am pretty sure that the teeth are fine -- you guys are on the right track. I am thinking it is a spring issue or maybe the bushing is jamming it up. I will be pulling it apart shortly. If anyone has any other suggestions or ideas please post
