big vs small wheels...please help a noob

`Ok, so I decided to look at 3 wheelers other than my own, and I'm seeing the smaller back wheel design a lot. Are these the faster models, because I always thought mine was zippy enough for a fourstroke, and with big tires too. If I got one of these smaller back wheel designs, would it be any good for trails or just racing?

Smaller wheels are just better for the racing trikes. Utilitytrikes shouldn't have tiny wheels and tires. Not only that, they look dumb ass hell on utility trikes

Very true. I used to run hole shots and turf tamers on my 185s as a kid. It was painfull.

Cornering gets much better with the short squared tires, but the comfort goes down. I like a nice medium myself, ie stock 250r,400ex,450r tires.

Small tires helps for acceleration but you will lose ground clearence. Big tires will give you more top speed and more clearence. Tire diameter is some kind of gearing like sprockets.

Yeah, the smaller tires should be lighter and should be easier for the engine to spin up to speed, even with some re-gearing (or that's at least what I'd assume)- which is why you see them on higher performance trikes.

For the bigger trikes that lack suspension, you need larger balloon tires which are what your suspension is.
