Buying a pit bike motor for a 70...

You cheatin' 70 guys... please chime in... what do you think of this motor and this deal? I'd rather have a semi-auto, but this deal seems way too good to pass up. Only thing it needs is an exhaust. Is the fact that it doesn't use an oil cooler a bad thing?

Also, what do you think of this exhaust?

Never ran a Lifan, but that price looks pretty nice with all the goodies!! I guess it depends what you are doing with it. The pipe.......the cheaters always preached cobra only to me for the combo's I and some of them run....they seem to be a match made in cheater heaven... lol That is a nice price for another option though?? Oil coolers not necessary but will help if you are beatin' them lap after lap in the heat. I am sure you would be very happy with that deal and the power it would make. Good luck, you could get a 140 piranha for that price maybe slighly more though if you keep your eyes open..........several of them run the 140 piranha. Good luck

Thanks for the response crazy70man... to the best of your knowledge, is there anything missing from the kit that I'll need? I noticed some motors are missing covers and such... I hate surprises!

EDIT.. Look at this! I guess I would need the clutch parts for this one...

Looks, like it's all there to me, price is right, pipe is one I have never tried, I question the reducer going into the silencer, I like the bend that would tuck it in tighter to the frame about where the stinger goes on, I think it would take less to get a good fit than the cheap straight pit bike pipes I have used, oil coolers are a good idea if your going to twist the crap out of it , helps the rings last, most don't use coolers, 125cc motors make good power and start pretty easy, 140cc and up can be a butt to get started, I think the pirahna 140 is $350 plus shipping and their 125 is about $330 plus shipping, saving around 100 bucks would make me think twice and I have several 70s with all kinds of different combos on them

chinese motors are great,,,, only a few of them, the cheaper ones that have the clutch mounted on the crank not the primary shaft are a pain,,, NOT ALL CHINESE MOTORS!!!

I could not agree with you more, been there blown that , for the money you spend and the power and duability you get, the chinese motors are great, my 70s get abused and for the most part they take a beating and come back for more, yes the Honda stuff has better quality but factor in the price, and the fact that alot of the parts you use to make the Honda run are [aftermarket], I just start with a bigger chinese motor and save some cash for the next project

Well yeah, I mean most of them will run through hell and high water too. Just the starting that is a pain, sometimes.. (and with some motors)

thouse lifan 125 motors are great i borowed a pitbike with one for a weekend if you put a crf 100 carb on them you wont have to open the carb up all the time the originals suck and the jets viberate lose and fall into the float bowl at the worst posible time but on some the fly wheels arent balanced properly and they shake like crack addict on top end
