Any Mosin Nagant nuts in here?

Just went and (almost) picked up a 1943 Mosin Nagant in really good shape today. I say almost, because for some reason, I got put on a govt hold... (never happened to me before) Get to pick it up next wednesday (worse case scenario) Looking to stick a timney trigger and boyd stock on it... Will post pics before I get it stuffed into the safe... My first Commie iron!

government hold...that sucks. I wonder why?

I have a group of friends who love them and all own at least 1. I have been looking at them as my next gun because of them but not sure yet. (looking into longish range rifles)

I wonder if the hold is a recent thing or just random.

    good luck

The G/F got me one for my birthday in September. Pretty cool gun with a nice wallop to 'em and pretty cheap to shoot. Haven't killed anything with it yet, just the paper and a couple poplar trees. Took it out for PA deer season one day but didn't see anything. Come spring time I'll see how much damage it will do to a woodchuck.

The bs hold... Happended to my father (62 yrs old) and a buddy, same age as me (30) and another buddy who is 29... Luck of the draw I guess. Good thing is, they all got their gun, after a few days. I really want to find a m38 that isnt shot out...

You need to look at the Schmidt Rubin K31.They are one straight shooting gun. When I first saw one thought no way with that goof straight pull bolt. The trigger on them is very light alot of creept though.I can crank out five shots off hand at a pie plate set at 50 yards and hit all five times.

I've got a '46 Hungarian M44 Carbine. I've really got no complaints other than its got a very notchy bolt. I prefer my 8mm K98 Mausers but its hard to beat the price of ammo for the Nagant.

ive got a 1937 soviet m91-30 thats still using all original pieces, (barrel, stock, bolt, reciever ect..) i love it, cant beat it, espicially for the price. got mine with 2 amo carriers, a tool that im not sure what to do with, what appears to be a powder tin, sling, and bayonet. got it on sale for $89 at duhnhams and ive heard they can be found cheaper at shows and such. i got lucky on getting an all original one as i just told the lady to pick one out for me since i was buying it on a whim as just a cheap gun.

RIDE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT! AND NEVER LOOK BACK, THEY ARE TOO FAR BEHIND TO SEE!!

Id rather have a sister in a WHORE HOUSE than a brother in a FORD!

the nagant is anything but a semi-long range rifle. they shoot accurately to 1000 ish yards with the ironsights.....you slap a scope on there, 1500 yards shouldnt be much of a problem to reach out and slap someone. and best part is, the rifle and ammo are dirt cheap.

46 Nagant here. I have three total, two long rifles, and one carbine(with the bayonet and all).
This is my trike. There are many like it but this one is mine. My trike is my best friend, and it is my life. I must master it as I must master myself. My trike without me is useless. Without my trike, I am useless. I must ride my trike true. My trike and I know that what counts is not the amount of miles we ride, but the time we ride together. My trike is human in it's own ways, therefore I will learn it as my brother. I will learn it's weaknesses, it's strengths, it's parts, and it's soul.

Carbine with the bayonet is the m44. I think my next will be a m38...

I had a Nagant. I nicknamed it "The Thunder stick". It really had a solid kick and one helluva bark. Don't know too much about it though. Bought it at a garage sale for $100 and it came with 200 rds of ammo. It was great medicine for sick raccoons and skunks here on the farm. It was about the best rifle I owned 'til I bought my new Remington Model 700 22-250.
1982 Honda 200 ATC E. Big Red. Finished but still looking for a few bits and pieces.

1998 John Deere Gator 6x4. "Big Green".

thats a hell of a compensation....the sliding iron sights were more than adequate for that range when we were shooting.
