85 Big Red 250es Muffler? Where to buy?

I've been reading here on the forum and I see that an after market muffler may require adjusting the carb, going to bigger jets, etc... I would be telling a lie if I said I wanted to get into all that.

I just purchased my BR about two months ago and its in great shape and runs perfectly. My only issue is that whoever had it before me cut the baffle out of the muffler. I would like one it. So, I'm looking for a replacement muffler. The ones I have found on ebay are all rusted and whatnot. I don't wanna replace junk with junk. Can anyone suggest a muffler that will be at OEM specs thats new??? Or a somewhere that sells reconditioned originals maybe???

    Thanks

    Aj

heres what i did for my BR i took the muffler off sanded it down as much as i could to get as clean as i could and bought some 2000+ F (comes in aluminum or black) spray painted and painted it. it holds up nice. otherwise check out hyperparts.com or maybe denniskirk.com i know that hyperparts has a muffler for the BR. check it out. pretty costly though

yea i know what you mean (even though im 17 lol). id just go with buying one on ebay and doing the detailing yourself. took me about a half hour to do finish it all up on mine. it looked surprisingly good. but if you really wanted something as quiet as the original and didnt care to spend the money on someone thing new but not original, the one on hyperparts.com i think is just the silencer part which would be the part you need.

I got a good TRX 300 4x4 muffler and cut the original br muffler off at the muffler and welded the 300 muffler on. It is nice and quiet and actually is a little deeper than the original muffler. Mine was rotted out.

ebay or the classifieds are your best bet. you see them quite often on ebay. keep an eye out for a nice solid one. Most reqire paint, but thats nothing. I think one of the most redily available aftermarket is made by cobra, and i would not recommend. If your not in a huge hurry you should be able to find something.

    Muffler secrets

If anyone feels like fabricating, local bike shops seems to have take off mufflers from new quads and actually give them away since no one wants them in the first place.
