    Tri-Z Question

Here we go, one of my classmates dad has a 85 tri z. He used to race it in the 80's. Now it just sits in the barn. I asked him if he would sell it and he said 800 bucks. It has a race pipe and reeds and he says its been bored once. It is going to need a good cleaning and a throttle cable. Would it be worth 800? And im not much of a yamaha guy ive always had hondas, is there anything else i should look for?
    Any help is appreciated
    Thanks

Probably a good deal for $800 if it's in good condition and runs.

It's common for the fuel pumps to stop working!! and check the back shock still works and swingarm for cracks!
If it ain't sideways......what's the point!!

If its in good shape buy it, fuel pumps are a dime a dozen, you can't buy them from Yamaha but they are a Mikuni pump and are rebuildable with parts from a good sled shop, for about $12.

Hell yeah, but the hell out of it...j/k..I couldn't resist, it just made me laugh!

I would buy it if it is complete and in decent condition, I have two tri-z's and they do take a little tweaking to get them to handle good...but I think there a pretty good machine. Hell, it's a 250cc two stroke trike with full suspension,,,,thats all good if you ask me...honda, kawi, yamaha, I'll buy any of them if the price is right.

Oem pump kits are still availiable with everything you need for a complete fuel pump re-build.

Hey, I'm new here an i gotta question??? i found a 1985 tri z 250. the guy says the fuel pump is shot an i was wondering if it was worth the 1000 the guy was askin? would u be worried bout the fluid leak under the trike? what about moving the gas tank out from under the seat and putting a 1985 yz250 carb on it so i dont have to worry about a fuel pump?

The carb doesn't know or care how fuel is delivered. It's there to meter fuel and air. Tri-z's use vacuum pumps, yz's rely on good old gravity. If it's leaking fuel, generally it's not a big deal. Just track it down and fix.
