hopefully this is a easy fix. let me know what you think

i have a 1983 200e honda big red. i did some adjustments on the carb. it kept over flowing gas would just poor out. i adjusted the needle so that it did not run as rich. followed the specs. but now when i ride it runs great runs great then all of the sudden it will start to bog out. it bogs way down then it just bogs it self out. and then when i try to start it she wont go. i usually end up running the battery out. if i slap the charger on it i can get it to start. i know i adjusted the carb and i am no dealer technician but now i cant seem to fix the issue. and ideas on what it could be. help a wheeler out.

well if its continuously leaking then your floats are stuck and its possibly flooding your motor... that would explain why when you kill your battery the time you spend hooking up the charger it will start...
pick yourself up a carb rebuild kit and clean the carb that should set you straight and if it didnt your only 15 bucks in the hole

sounds like your float may be sticking.

It will stick low and over flow..sometimes.

When it's running, you're USing gas so it may be taking the extra and using it.

When you run it, it runs good for a bit and then runs out of gas because the float is stuck up? and won't refill correctly?

    maybe?

in the time it takes you to fool around with the charger, the float bowl refills and Viola'

    it runs again.

I've heard people hook some clear fuel line to the floatbowl drain and hold it up next to the float bowl to see where the fuel level actually is without having to take it apart.

I've dripped mystery oil in the fuel line before so it runs thru the float needle and it MIGHT clear it

but those 200 carbs are so easy to take off and put back on, I;ve seen people rip them off and apart in the time it's taken me to type this.

Good luck, have fun and be careful

    ps wow
looks like me and joeystacks were writing at the same time.

    pps

I bought a 250 and the carb had apparently overflowed for a while and actually filled the crankcase with gas.

When I checked the oil it was tons overfull and watered down with gas.

Another good reason to shut off our fuel at the tank when we stop running

If there is a screen in the gas tank, possibly on the petcock, check that.

Is there a difference between the 84 big red card and the 83. As far as the rebuild kit goes
