    '86 R - Boss Bearings?

I am in the process of freshening up the motor on my '86 R. I need to order new bearings and seals for the bottom end, but thought I would see where you fellas are getting yours. I realize I should probably use OEM, but a boss bearing kit is sure tempting. Does anyone have experience with them? They have all the bearings, seals, and gaskets for $153. I emailed them and asked them where there bearings are made, but never got a response. Thanks for the help.

I used boss bearings in my bottom end on my R and in my opinion they are as good or better than the stock bearings.

I disagree, a 6204 is not the same bearing made by different manufacturers.

They have different tolerances yet the same ID/OD/width.

Until they're gone, I won't run anything in a bottom end than OEM Honda; At that point I'll switch the SFK, Timken or other bearings made by manufacturers that have stood the test of time.

Send him a message and ask the brand of the bearing, start there.... Then you can research that manufacturer. If he avoids the question steer away from him quickly!

    You'll thank me later

If they are a known brand name and you are willing to roll the dice then go for it. Crank bearings are not the place to save a few bucks IMHO.

I used the boss bearrings and seals in my 85 tri z. They seem to work okay so far, but have not ridden it a whole lot yet. I'll let you guys know if the bottom end explodes at WOT, and then punch myself in the face.

ive never used their engine bearings yet but probably will be trying them when i rebuild my 88 trx motor in a few weeks.
But i have used their bearings countless times for chassis rebuilds on all my machines. They seem to last just as long if not longer than oem bearings in chassis applications from my experience.

Thanks for your thoughts. I think I will probably go with them. What's the worst that could happen! I am sick of piddly little break downs anyways, might as well go for the gold!
