If you are thinking a drag trike, then start your thinking with 2 stroke and go from there.

a 200x frame/chassis isnt going to be any good for that motor and the motor itself is going to be heavy if your talking street bike. you cant build a drag bike with a small budget. if your new at fabrication and mounts then you need a 250r frame t convert for a cr500 motor then build the hell out of the motor and you will not be dissapointed one bit.you can ask the other members how it worked out.

I have built many streetbike conversions for people. They do Get it on perty good. But a true drag bike with an override and alky will useually smoke a streetbike conversion. So dont be suprized when that stock cyl 250r all streched out or banshee leaves ya.

Portland250r, the cr500 is in no way good for drag racing. The power is just in the wrong places. Your much better off with a 330, 350 or 370.

well i tried to put a cb 350 motor in a 200x and ended up just scraping it because there was no way possible to make the motor even fit anywhere near in thet frame much less a 750!! not sayign it cant be done but it will look liek an abortion when done.

Without my trike, I am useless. I must ride my trike true. My trike and I know that what counts is not the amount of miles we ride, but the time we ride together. My trike is human in it's own ways, therefore I will learn it as my brother. I will learn it's weaknesses, it's strengths, it's parts, and it's soul.

If it were me, like Vealmonkey said think 2 strokes. If you have some good old country junk yards chances are there will be an old Yamaha, Suzuki, or Kawi, large displacement 2 stroke street bike, that would be where I would start. Once I build my garage I am going to make one, there are some at the junk yard I have been eyeing. Also you would almost be better off modifying its cradle and making a custom swinger or adapting one, than trying to stuff it in a 200X frame. But some of the older 2 stroke street bike engines might fit in there. All sorts of sizes and not too heavy, compared to a similar displacement 4 stroke from the same era. Honda 750, great engine, just not in a trike, like the GS1000E trike. There's a Suzuki 3 cylinder 2 stroke just waiting to be made into a drag trike. Now to save up for the garage. Good luck on it, plus 2 cylinder and single cylinder 4 strokes are going to be lighter and make better power and weight than the CB750.

If you really want a drag trike with a streetbike engine, I have an old Hi Performance ATC frame that currently has mounts in it to take an rd350 engine, but I also have an h2750 streetbike that as long as you made new engine mounts, that would fit right in to the old Hi Performance frame. That 750 engine is a 3 cylinder, 2 stroke. Which would put you right in the ball park. Also you could use a snowmobile engine. Kawasaki made a 3 cylinder snowmobile engine that used a centrifugal clutch which could work as well.

There are two of those H2750's at the junk yard. I need to get my hands on them. One is complete enough it might come back to life as the bike it once was.

I strongly disagree. This topic has come up alot lately. Mine is a great trail bike. It wheeles in 4 gears and will idle around all day.

The problem with the X frames is the center vertical tubes lay forward and have to be cut out and laid back to clear the carbs. This creates a weakness that can not be overcome. The R frames are already laid to the back. They would make a better plateform to start with.
